What colour to paint bedroom walls to suit a rouged marble fireplace

We have a large victorian bedroom and thought we would like pale blue or grey walls but have now stripped the fireplace which is rouged marble. We want to keep it unpainted as it is quite beautiful but are stumped about good colours - have been through the farrow and ball catalogue but cannot see beyond the darkness of the marble. How can we keep it elegant and clean? ideas please
