Suggest ideas for fireplace

I have a black fireplace in my new office space and I think it could be made into a nice feature so am looking for suggestions to make it 'pop' as I plan to keep it black but want to bring out the pretty decorative patterns.

Would really appreciate any suggestions.

It looks perfect as it is I must say and rather better as is.. Consider a mirror or a beautiful painting to hang above it.. : ))

Wow, how fantastic to have a lovely fireplace in your office space! It looks like it is painted matt black at the moment which tends to flatten the detailing? You could try using graphite stove/grate polish which keeps it black but the silvery graphite tones catch the light and make the details stand out. It is really cheap and easy to do too.

I can't wait to see the after on this project! Here are a few ideas I had: You can have the chimney breast come straight up from the mantle as a section that comes out into the room in one solid piece. I like how this room has built-ins tucked in on the sides and I thought the exposed beams and slanted roof was a similar feel to show you how it could look in your space. Again, I like the built ins in this space and the way the oversized mirror above the mantle reflects the outdoors as you described the windows on the right as well. Another idea is to select a unique material for the chimney breast and mantle and have it go all the way up the wall like this one.

This is a really great, if not a bit small, bedroom! Love the window shutters and angled ceilings. I agree with changing the white to a softer colour, Farrow & Ball do some really lovely shades, as above Green Blue is great or something like French Gray. It would look great with the white shutters too. By the way of artwork, I would suggest not to paint on the wall itself but to frame your artwork and hang on the walls, this way it's more easily changeable. I also think using white picture frames will help to keep the room light and won't look so heavy seeing as the room is rather small? Just some ideas, hope they offer some inspiration!

I'd get rid of the white pillars and mantle and surround it in a timber, possibly oak. You get then keep the inside.

Now need to sort the wall! Think there's at least 4 layers of wallpaper that we'll have a go at stripping! Will need to think of paint colour and a new mirror.... might make that a separate post though!

Consider a Gilding Wax, available in many finishes, i'd try Pewter. It's very easy to apply, just lightly rub some over the mouldings and buff off to enhance. Gilding Wax

I'd also look in to replacing the front of the Air Vent panel with something a bit more decorative and appropriate for the era, You could make something ' older' looking with a bit of Jali panel.
