Need help with girls bathroom

My husband and I are building a house and my girls will be sharing a jack and jill bath. I would like to put white washed laminate in their bedrooms and vanity area but I am unsure what tile to pair it with in the tub/toilet area. Please Help!

(no on the jack and jill bath. someone always leaves the other side locked, or forgets to lock it. and you want to hear if your children are up at night ill. and then they are teens and you really want them to come out of their rooms from time to time, if just to use the bathroom.)

We will also be building a jack and Jill bath for our girls and I full disagree with the points against it. I think it's a great option. Ours will be quite simple with lots of white or very neutral colours and then we will add pops of colour with accessories. I figure as the girls get older their likes will change and so can towels and accessories etc.

Hi Michael, Sorry, but I have to partially disagree with you on this, daylight colour temperature is 6500K not 4000K. Yes, 4000K is warmer than 6500K but it does not give a truer representation of colour. Colour representation is measured using the colour rendering index or CRI. The closer to 100, the closer to daylight. The Megaman LEDs are 80 CRI for each of the colour temperatures. That said, the 4000K fitting will produce a brighter and cleaner feel to the room. However, it can look too harsh at night. 2700K is closer to traditional halogen fittings. It can look duller during the day, but looks a lot more welcoming in the evening - perfect for a soak in the bath. It comes down to personal preference in the end

Entire modern large apartment needs a refurb. I am looking into what can be retained, to keep spending down. For a small family/ guest bathroom, I will replace sanitary ware in the same position. I hate the wall and floor tiles. They certainly cannot both stay as they clash. The walls have an Imperial equivalent of a 20x20cm matt beige/ tan tile with white grouting. I dislike it but at least the colour and matt finish are quite neutral. The floor has an Indian green marble tile, which I am told is very expensive, but I loathe. Removing tiles is noisy and disruptive as well as expensive. Should I try a honed finish on the floor tiles (a bit less disruptive) and choose a paint and back painted glass option for the walls that would better match the green? Busy marble is not my natural style, but sometimes one achieves a surprising success by work around feature you wouldn't choose. If this option, suggestions for colours appreciated. Looking at the Little Green colour chart - or any other. Or should I live with the beige/ tan wall tiles and get rid of the floor? Or get rid of both? My taste is quite minimalist and calming, with touches of accents.

Hi. I'm a bit confused, have you bought the vanity and are looking to paint it? Is the rest of the bathroom fitted as you could add brass or copper taps for instance with a matching mirror? Accessories will also warm it. I like a little wooden stool in a bathroom which you can add accessories to i.e. A candle, natural sponge, flannel etc which has some texture. A plant on the window sill if you have one and then nice accessories for the sink and either some coloured towels or I like hammam ones. I've found a couple of pics but they may not post as houzz has issues :( These are using deep rich colours which may bring the cabinet towards you a little. A darker top for the vanity would also work

You could always go with gray subway tiles. Lots of gray tones to choose from might really compliment the white wash.

If this was a bathroom for my home I would choose tile for the vanity area instead of laminate. Yes, the laminate looks beautiful, but eventually the water will cause damage. Depending on the base color of your rooms, probably either beige or gray, find a 12" x 24" floor tile with that color. Then for an updated look, add large profile 4" x 8" white subway tiles on the tub surround to coordinate with the white washed laminate. Then add color to the walls. Fun and pretty!
