Need help choosing colours for living room
Comments (8)Thanks again :) Hadn't thought about Christmas! Oops, you're right of course, I will have to grab samples if I can and line them up and see what they look like. We've just had the window ripped out and the increase in light is amazing! This at least means I wont be too worried incorporating red in fear of the room looking too dark. The chair rail is a good idea, I'm assuming it's similar to what I referred to as a dado rail? Wooden trim halfway height around the room? We've just ripped ours off, haha, merely because I wanted to completely change the look of the room. Hmm, maybe I've been premature with that decision, it would have allowed me to add a strong colour and still be able to balance it.... Our children are now grown up, one left home, one back and forwards as attending University so no issues with small sticky fingers. However, we do have an incredibly energetic springer spaniel, so I do need the option to 'paint over' any areas he decided he particularly likes! :D...See MoreNeed help with choosing a colour for my living room
Comments (20)maria galvano thank you, I love them too and make me smile whenever I look at them, I bought them from a Bedouin woman in Petra (Jordan). They remind me of an amazing trip to Syria and Jordan some years ago, travelling independently using public transport and meeting amazing people along the way, both locals and tourists. Loved Petra so much and the local Bedouin people, went back for a second day to have another look around as well as sit and drink mint tea and listen to amazing stories ... and yes, they make my home feel alive as most things in it have some connection to a life lived. Thank you again....See MoreNeed help with Scandi style furniture/colour scheme for living room
Comments (6)Hi, the space looks fantastic with those wooden stairs and rustic beams. I agree with the comment above about the sofa- would look and feel more comfy if you went for fully upholstered one. I think you could play with whites, greys, black and wood colours and chose one more to add: yellow, blue or even red/pink to fit your chair in. Whitewashed clay pots with green plants would add a lot of warmth as well: I am making oversized wooden clocks that could infuse your cottage with even more character, few examples and link to my website below: Peak Art Handmade Wall Clocks Anna...See MoreNeed help with paint colours for living room
Comments (20)Ha, funnily enough I tried some colours out on your walls in photoshop yesterday, which doesn't mean a thing, since it always looks different on screen, and I too thought that Ammonite worked well. Still, do try it out. Painted the skirting All White. Threw in some pattern with cushions, a framed poster will reflect light and is more interesting than a mirror (which loads of people use) and I thought that you could perhaps place a different cabinet for the TV along the wall next to the fireplace....See Morebajja
