Ceiling downlight placement for wall pictures/artwork?
Comments (20)This discussion neglects the beam angle of the bulb in the fixture. These can vary from about 15 degrees to around 50 degrees. Additionally, tilting a Gimbel fixture does not necessarily cut off light as the beam is a three-dimensional paraboloid for which the math is much more complex than this simplistic tangent formula. The guidelines here will put you in the ballpark however. Unfortunately many "lighting experts" don't really know lighting. RPI (Rennselaer Polytechnic) has a lighting division with good information on line for those interested. I attended their one-day course prior to designing our own lighting for a kitchen renovation. The course was very helpful....See MoreHow Many Pieces of Artwork Do You Have Around Your Home?
Comments (20)We have some bonkers stuff around - cameraless photos of mushrooms by the very talented Susan Derges. Jason Martin's painting on aluminium. The spectators triptych - I've always refused to sleep in that guest bedroom because of the creepy feeling that they would be staring at me all night. Some scary Kabuki prints (they really scare me!! I told him we are divorcing if those prints leave his office): And many more (iSAW, you are to blame for encouraging me to post photos... I just love posting photos...) :))...See MoreTo art or not to art
Comments (12)Love love love your colour scheme and art. I would definitely put some art on the TV wall though. Not sure why...maybe it will look better when you move it lower....See MoreHow to decide on a piece of Art for wall
Comments (11)I certainly don't have any genius ideas :) but I second forzaitalia's white door suggestion. You can probably 'get away with' leaving the doorframes as they are, seeing your window frames are in a natural wood colour too. You'd have to give other doors (at least the nearby one) the same treatment though, I feel. Perhaps you could also consider changing the ceiling light at some stage to make the artwork blend better still....See MoreCaitriona
