Feature wall with hidden wine cellar entrance - aesthetic help needed!
Comments (23)Thanks all. Sorry it wasn't very clear before. I started mid through my renovation sentence as opposed to the full sentence! Whoops! Thanks for your input thus far. I've attached more photos which should hopefully give a proper visual. As Karen at One Plan (who are FYI amazing and downright beyond talented) rightly said it is a walk way so nothing protruding out is a viable option for the space. We're not sure what to do with the wall, hang photos, one off statement, hidden door, visual door, standard doors for the wine nook and something else wow on the wall? It's a big space and central to the rooms movement do something cool and stylish and modern but workable. We just want what looks Amazing! Has a cool wow factor but practical. My other half was thinking a sliding door too Karen but I thought it may restrict walking space when it was open? Please give us your best design suggestion. Comments (9)Just be careful with the 'modern cottage' look. I've seen many people de-value their home by taking out original features. Mixing old with new will look wonderful, and i like the idea of some nice bright colours. The Hall floor is quite dull, drab and not at all cottagey. Change the floor, have a built in understairs cupboard with a lovely old door on it. Paint the walls in the whole house white / off white for light and go with accessories, mirrors, cushions, curtains, lights etc to add the colour that you want. Cottages can be on the small side and therefore, painting the whole house one colour, but accessorising with different ones in different rooms makes the whole house flow and look bigger....See MoreAdvice on small kitchen design - brain stuck
Comments (28)@Maggie Youngson I was happy with price and time frame. I live in a 1930s semi so walls are lat and plaster, was a messy job. All walls had to be boarded and plastered before units were fitted, the angular parts were custom built. Electrics had to be fitted and the floor matched in with rest of hall and then he painted walls before finishing. I’ve used this joiner many times before and he always does an excellent job...See MoreDriveway Entrance Gates Advice and Opinions Please
Comments (29)Update: we bottled out and went for traditional wooden gates in the end! We're delighted with them (and so is our dog who can see right through!). Took the advice to remove the pillar lights and placed uplighters at the bottom of the pillar and planted roses under them. As always, thank you for all your wonderful comments and help....See Morenmp19
