How well does magnolia go with grey?

Hi all,
Just wanting people's view on Magnolia and how well it would pair with different shades off grey.

Magnolia is that one colour which, isn't necessarily a horrible colour but ((due to being used too much, in rooms, possibly due to the cheap availability in large quantities)), is very much disliked. For this reason I didn't want to use it in the house renovation.

However, I'm now wondering whether it's worth pairing with magnolia.

In the hallway, I'm going to panel the walls up to the dado rail which will continue up the staircase. As the staircase is fairly dark and wanting to keep the space airy, I wanted to use white gloss for the panels and an airy neutral cream above, just to create a break between the two spaces.

I am now wondering whether it will look better if we use magnolia on the walls above the dado and opt for light grey gloss panels such as dulux polished pebble??

is it worth it or not???

Hi. If you like the colour then go for it, it's your home. I'd put it with latte type colours with it's peachy undertones. If you're not sure on the colour then there are hundreds of warm neutrals. Polished pebble I believe has a blue undertone so may not be the best choice if you want to warm the room anyway. If you want to stick with the magnolia then I'd pick up a few colour cards and choose your favourites to test.

Hello, I'd love to upload a pic but the app is not letting me at the moment. It's a hall and was thinking the bottom half of it (it's already divided with skirting, creating a "panel" look) should be ochre and the top one in a light neutral (UK, not much natural light). The carpet on stairs will be an ochre / old gold colour. I do like the idea of inverting the colours: lighter for the bottom panel and ochre for the rest, but I'm afraid of it being too much ochre and eventually i would have to paint ochre upstairs too. The bottom panel is about 1 metre high. Thanks.

I disagree with the greys being too much. My daughter has just had a kitchen and the worktops are the same colour as the cupboards, looks amazing and more seemless. I think if you colour match the worktop to the cupboards it will look a lot better. I also think that if you were to do some de-cluttering, change the toaster, kettle, etc for the Duck egg to match the little pots on the window sill, then that would help. Boxing in the pipes is an absolute must to make it look tidy. I can't think why they've got kinks in them. They need straightening by a plumber and boxing in to hide them. I don't think the scheme will go with the flooring and that it should be change for pale gloss grey to bounce the light around. The finish on the cupboards should also be glossy for the same reason. ( Flooring changed for light grey - makes a big difference )

When you say your wall colour is “strong white” do you mean Farrow and Ball Strong White? Looks lovely. I’ve got the same dilemma-Dove Grey units in an east facing room which gets not much light. I’ve tried a million samples and can’t find that “right one”. Thanks
