Puppy proof rug
Comments (35)Hi, I love this room and Hague Blue is one of my favourites! I would suggest a flat weave rug for this space. Flat weaves tend to be easier to clean as the dirt doesn't as easily get into the fibers, and they don't pull by little paws so easily. They have worked really well in my own home with three small children (and two dogs we often dog sit)! With regards to flat weave/dhurries there are lots of options. Safavieh has some great dhurrie rugs at a reasonable price point on Wayfair, so that might be worth exploring. West Elm has some wonderful kilim style rugs that would suit your modern space quite well too, and I believe many are on sale at the moment. Another suggestion might be a natural fiber rug like a jute with a cotton border which can be ordered online by the sq ft very easily. Both the internal rug and the outer border come in a variety of shades and materials to suit your budget and taste. A final suggestion would be to look at some indoor/outdoor options which are made from a really soft plastic (many you wouldn't even know are plastic) and can literally be hosed off in the garden. Check out Dash and Albert. Otherwise, have the white vinegar ready and enjoy your puppy! Hope this was helpful!...See MoreRUG ADVICE
Comments (14)lindac3, that is what I said about the chairs, although clear would work too! Now you have said what your room actually looks like (nothing like the picture it sounds lol!) I can see where you are coming from with the rug idea! As I see it now, perhaps a "flat" rug (ie not tufted)? As someone above said, they do what they call "indoor/outdoor" rugs which are not too expensive, but mainly are white and another colour. I have seen them in TK Maxx and HomeSense in the past, they were around £30/£50 if I remember rightly? If you google them as "indoor/outdoor" rugs, something must come up I'm sure! Happy rug hunting!x...See MoreMy first house , ideas please !?!
Comments (13)I would focus on window treatments, the lounge in particular looks rather bare. Maybe full length simple curtains in a pale or accent color on a ceiling track, or good quality blinds (I can't see the current ones clearly) recessed into the window space so it doesn't flap around. Next, you need to create a gathering space in the lounge around your coffee table, perhaps rotate the sofa 90 degrees to face window, put chair opposite and a tv in the corner, and then at the back of the sofa use your wooden unit as a low table for storage and decor. Then you could fit a dining table between that space and the door. Get a large natural rug to put under the dining space to protect the carpet. You already have a lot of high level lighting so some table lamps on side tables could add an interesting mix. Cream, green, grey colors. Comments (17)Thanks everyone, this is so helpful!!! Dundrum that made me chuckle. I will stick to my guns but sadly the retailers have an aversion to pistachio. Went round huge Next home store today, tonnes of curtain fabric options in all colours except pistachio!!! Grrrr! Thank you again Man about House, I will persevere and I covet your curtains!!! I think I may well get the original rug you found! Thanks Laura will also look at French Connection, who would have thought! The parquet floors are from 1962 and I am chuffed to bits how they have come up, waited 3.5 years to do them! Angie and celery girl, very good points re rug size, my last Ikea one was definitely in the "not this" category!! Thanks also for the image celerygirl, I like the poufs very much but the trouble is the room is Lshaped and the walkway goes past them Any views on the coffee table dilemma everyone? As for brown sofa wish could replace asap. Would you believe someone gave me a beautiful South African wood sideboard and I kept it for a few years until eBaying it for a pittance! I even tried it in the space, see pic, yikes, I thought it was too dominant but maybe not....!...See Morepazza_italiana78
