Do you like antique mirrors?
Comments (11)I love them. From genuine antique mirrors to the new antique style splashbacks or tile effect. I have a bricked up arch window at the end of my hall which I'd love to have antiqued glass cut to fit but sadly out of budget atm. I also love the antique style splashbacks similar to the award winning mowlems kitchen design (not quite so keen on the pic above) but I'm really not convinced it will work in my kitchen. I recently bought an antique dressing table which has a very aged looking mirror, looks great but you can't actually see in it properly!...See MoreHow many mirrors do you have in your house?
Comments (27)sianember - Love the mirrors! They bring back happy memories. I have a business 'upcycling' furniture - although I've been doing it for over 20 years now and recycling was hardly a thing, let alone upcycling, in those days :D - but I started out selling mirrors on Greenwich market. A friend and I would find old mirrors in junk shops (this was in the halcyon days when every high street had at least one, sadly they are few and far between now) and we would 'pimp' them and sell them. We were particularly fond of using shells as they were free, meant we got to spend a day at the seaside and we could use the children to collect them!...See MoreKitchen antique mirror splash back help
Comments (21)Saw an article on Apartment Therapy talking about mirrored splashbacks recently. Had some lovely photos featured, I personally preferred the options where the glass is raised up from the hob slightly. Could you maybe get a piece of the upstand cut to fill the gap? Also having it 'framed' by wall either side looks better to me than it spanning the whole space. I've mocked it up to extractor fan level and to ceiling level (I've guesstimated the tile scale but hope it gives you the idea). Personally I prefer the latter in this space as the proportions look better. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/mirror-backsplash-ideas-that-arent-from-the-70s-or-80s-248551...See Moreantique mirror splashback-advice pls
Comments (9)When mirrored glass is being used as a kitchen splashback it is crucial that toughened glass is used, in order to prevent the mirror from cracking under heat from the stove or from an intricate cut around sockets. A toughened mirror splashback is special, because not only does it look striking, it also takes a carefully skilled and expert production process. Unlike standard mirrors, ®CreoGlass toughened mirror splashbacks are made from low iron toughened glass. This process is imperative for safety - both in the home and in a commercial environment. Toughened mirrored splashbacks have a wow factor and can be used as a statement piece. The mirrored surface will also serve to reflect light onto items in the kitchen you want to show off - making your Aga sparkle or showing your range cooker in the best light.
