Decisions, decisions!!!!.............whole house renovation!
Comments (4)Hello Scott, Adding to Jonathan's suggestions, Look at the bones of the space first before worrying about what's going in it.. To an extent.. You really do need to consider what the end result is that you want.. It doesn't have to be in enormous detail but it really does need thinking about as a whole.. Once the bones have been decided then you can flesh out the scheme... So unless you're making structural alterations and or requirements that need engineers, architects etc.. You may need these but you may only need a builder- that all depends on the works.. then you could work with an interior designer once you're closer to getting to where you need to be in order to start decorating and filling the home with furnishings etc.. It might also be a good idea to work with a designer initially to consider what should stay or what you can address to retain the character or inject that which may have been lost.. Someone who can advise you on a look that compliments you and your family? and of course the house.. Whether that be kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms or gardens. What oven, what sofa, what plant.. For a full and coherent look at the house as a whole regardless of whether you do it all at once. : ))...See MoreGas or electric patio heater?
Comments (3)Personally I think there electric ones are less attractive but way more convenient. Firstly the gas ones are heavy and difficult to move but the electric ones are inexpensive so you can have more than one in convenient locations. The electric infra red heat lamps are also quite efficient costing about 35pence per hour to run....See Morewhat do we replace our old storage heaters with?
Comments (0)We are renovating a 1970’s property which currently has old fashioned storage heaters . We will be using the property as a holiday home and wish to operate the heating remotely. There is no gas in the village so only option is electric . Underfloor heating is not an option as budget will not stretch to that. Any ideas for slick modern electric heating solution which is not outrageously expensive an on a budget !...See MoreStorage heater conversion
Comments (0)Hi all, I am looking at new properties (with sincere apologies to those who have seen previous posts and wonder when I'll ever get my act together and actually find one...) and I would be grateful for any thoughts on replacing electric storage heaters with gas radiators (or other heating systems). A house we have seen and like has no central heating but instead runs on storage heaters and with an economy 7 boiler. I'd like to upgrade that system to gas or at least something more effective and efficient. The house is connected to gas (the kitchen hob is gas) which I assume helps?! Although I can't be so naive as to aim to direct feedback in a positive direction, I would love some positive experience of making this change if anyone felt comfortable to share any tips or recommendations, so that I can consider available options in a positive mindset. So far, I'm pretty good at conjuring up negatives but won't download my emotions here! Thank you, Deborah...See MoreVictoria
