Good Morning. That is a nice shade of dark beige/taupe. I checked & this home was completed in 2012. Paint was provided from Sherwin Williams. The color - I could not find information on. Thinking it's possible they may not carry that particular color today. Also keep in mind that in a photo, color can look quite different depending on time of day the photo was taken, lighting and post production of the photo.

Those gates really do look good. We advise our customers that if they want a painted finish NOT to go for hardwood. The cost can easily double (if not treble) in price and there is no real advantage if instead using a slow grown softwood! In fact, density level of iroko (hardwood) and slow grown redwood pine is extremely close. Yes hardwood is dense but so is some softwoods. Also, the natural beauty of hardwood with a quality oil finish is stunning and seems a crime to paint - in our opinion!

I think from what you say that you will have an a light grey wall color from the high railing down, darker grey above the rail, and white on the ceiling? You would paint the fireplace surround the light grey color (Cornforth white) but paint the remainder of that wall darker grey (so below the rail as well), with white built-in cupboards on each side...is this correct? If so, it seems there would be a "stripe" of the darker grey around the room on the upper wall, not sure how this would look (a photoshop mock up would help, but I don't have that skill). I like the Cornworth color and think it looks great with white. I would use only the two colors - white for the trim/rail, the fireplace surround, and the ceiling, and light grey for the rest of the walls.

Primer paint to smooth wall where paint has chipped?

I’m no expert but if you want a nice clean finish it’s best to get a plasterer to skim the walls. You could try some filler like Polyfiller in the dips, let it dry hard then gently sand smooth.
