Blinds which will fit very wide bay window, can anyone advise?

Hi there

In process of having pvc windows fitted and I would like blinds if possible but do not want to drill into them. The trouble is one of the windows is 280cm wide and I cannot find any blinds on the main websites which come in that size. Any advice would be really appreciated. Many thanks

What type of blind do you want? You may need more than one and you should be able to top fix them into the window reveal (just fit them far enough forward to so you clear the window handles) or face fix them if you're after Roman blinds. Sounds like you need a more bespoke service rather than a 'main website'. Have a chat with your local curtain maker or blind company.

We design and manufacture made to measure blinds. Although our website only offers blinds up to 240cm wide if you call our Customer Service team on 0800 107 5535 we should be able to get you sorted as we also service the commercial sector which usually require larger blinds.

Alternatively you could opt for more than one blind as Fusion Interior Design have suggested, we could offer these as manual operation or for added convenience these could be operated via a remote control.

What you can do is go for a high end bespoke window dressing. Since the arch can not be removed, why not try triple pinch pleated in a mauve colour, it will compliment your current paint on the walls. Add a little extra jazz by getting hand stitched swarovski crystals imbedded in each pleat. When the light hits these it will send shimmers across the whole room. I also would suggest that you use a aluminum Kirsch rail system with a tension pulley system. These systems are hassle free, maintenance free and will last a lifetime if used correctly, they are so much better than those horrible plastic rails that crack and break over time.

That many blinds would be a pain to open and close on a daily basis. You'd likely end up leaving some of them closed permanently which would cut the light enormously. Consider curtains that hang from the flat wall above the archway, in front of the whole bay window. When open they could hang on either side of the opening, meaning no loss of light. It would definitely make the room smaller when closed but would be a lovely 'wall of fabric', closing off any clutter on your dressing table.

Hi Carolina thanks so much for taking the time to advise. I like the look of the water running down the hill but wonder if that might work better in a different setting. The side sections of the rockery are very close to the main living room patio. i really like the idea of the water running down from the top but I wonder it might be too much of a tight squeeze for the pond part as the lawn is very narrow above it and to the retaining wall, such a skinny strip to play with. It is so frustrating! Or did you mean putting the pond part on the bottom section? Sorry! I suppose this is another option but nowhere near as attractive as your suggestions but if the pond isn't an option on the middle section, what do you think about something like this wall hung in centre of bottom wall?

The problem with curtains inside the bay is that they will potentially knock anything on the large cill area. Roman blinds will cover some of the window all the time. There are Venetian type blinds that fit into each window pane that might work but you lose the softness that curtains/fabric bring. I'd try a couple more curtain companies to see what they suggest.

If you're thinking of roller blinds, Silent Gliss have the 4830 which is up to 3300mm wide...

We have 6 x sets of sliding doors and ideally wanted a roller blind system that could cope with an opening around 5.3m wide, no luck without using something with a ridiculously wide diameter tube though!
