So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) But try as I may colour keeps wandering through my mind! Lovely to be in touch again!

Hello Charlie, You're welcome! Well the down draft was just one suggestion and they do vary in aesthetic but if you want free flow across the island then the ceiling version is better. Yes I too like the idea of not seeing the hood at all..... I think you can tease out that design out of your kitchen designer but here's another suggestion on that idea... http://www.iconappliances.co.uk/cooker-hoods/recessed-ceiling/abk-neerim-recessed-ceiling-hood-external-motor-required.html Yes I prefer the Ashtanga Yoga it's far more exciting if you haven't tried it do! .. So why not have a mix of touch open hinge mechanisms and the cup handles for the drawers.. Well... you're not going to be floored by the flooring! .. I have a trade account with a fantastic company but they only sell to trade so... Hi Thank you very much. I just had a thought and it may be something you like the sound of. How about installing the paper you like central to the wall and framing the wall in one of our leather panels. They could be used as a frame or to create a pillar either side of the paper ? Just a thought? Or something very different is to paint the wall and buy lots of big frames and put the paper in them? Creating Art/feature wall V.I.P Walls

Brilliant things to consider Minnie thank you. Only 4 of us in the house, and we do have a seperate dining room. I only want casual bar stool seating for the kitchen but am struggling with where else to place 4 bar stool. Haven't got the width of room to have them all down the side of island facing the wall of units, plus I really like the sleek look of an island and didn't want to interupt that streamlined look by having seating around one end in an L shape. Can't thing of any other option unless someone can thing of something to consider I'd be very grateful. I had my heart set on a mirror splash back but got put off as people said I would have water marks on it all the time from the sink.....is that everyone's experience of a mirror splashback or might I have made a hasty judgement? I was thinking of a washed light grey oak type flooring or a warm oak flooring but was worried if I went for oak ( this would be my colour preference) that it wouldn't work as I will have nothing else oak in the room. It's a south facing room, sun all day and evening so was thinking of a off white light grey tone on the walls and lots of chrome......again struggling to know how to incorporate that and what to put with it colour/ accent/ decor wise to make it feel comfy and not clinical. I'd love dark coloured glass slider but all windows in house are white so I had discounted it.
