Help with curtains/blinds for an apex window
Comments (14)I have no idea if they are duette or not. It's so long ago now that I can't remember what they are called but they are a pleated blind. Mine aren't black out as it's a sunroom but I'm sure you could get a black out option if needed. I have attached some more photos so you can see what they look like open. As others have said it might be worth shopping around. It's a long time since we got ours so there could well be more companies doing a similar product now....See MoreDifficult curved window - how to do curtains?
Comments (15)Late to the discussion, but wanted to put some options on here. There is an option for a 5 sided bat curtain poles, they have passing rings and can be a little faffy, however they do work when fitted level and well. If the angles are short enough i would break the angle and use a 3 sided pole by bringing the pole forward away from the window. The secret with the bay poles is to make the angles as soft as possible and use as few brackets as possible for the least obstructions https://www.direct-fabrics.co.uk/curtain-poles/metal-curtain-poles/bay-window-curtain-poles However i agree with alot of the other points, personally i would fit a curtain track across this. It would dress the window well and would provide a good solid fixing and smooth operation. It could also be bent easily on site with our fineline option or one of our fitters could bend a silent gliss product on site https://www.direct-fabrics.co.uk/fineline-curtain-track-white.html https://www.direct-fabrics.co.uk/curtain-tracks/metal I would 100% the tracked options for simplicty of operation, but if you want to try the bay poles then top fix...See MoreCan I get ready made curtains for wider windows 4.5m track
Comments (5)I have a bay window which is 365cm wide. Over the years I found wide enough curtains at Dunelm, but they don’t seem to do this size anymore. I also made my own curtains once. It wasn’t difficult but quite laborious. I found a cheapish plain fabric, joined it up to increase the width, hemmed it all round, then attached heading tape. They looked pretty good. Eventually, I ordered made to measure curtains at Laura Ashley which I still love. They cost around £550 for the bay window. One thing you could do is buy two pairs of curtains (so 4 individual curtains). When they are open you will not see the gaps, or maybe you could tack them discretely together? Just an idea....See MoreDressing a difficult Bay window
Comments (7)Lucky guests, what a lovely room with a great outlook! Agree that the look of the window would be significantly improved by painting the frames and sill white. The window is quite tricky to dress for a number of reasons: the deep sill, the position of the cupboard on the left, and not least the ceiling immediately over the bay that makes it very difficult to position a curtain rail that would look satisfactory. I think that the simplest, most effective and best looking solution would be 5 roller blinds. That’s an economical solution too if you fit ready-mades yourself. They are generally quite easy to cut to size, and not difficult to fit - although in a bay the job requires a little patience!...See MoreSass Ru
