Kitchen / Living room Design Dilema
Comments (9)There's always other options ! Here's another idea... A. Seating area - pair of sofas and coffee table. B. Extending dining table - turn 90 degrees to extend. C. Family size over depth USA FF. D. Slim storage cabinets - could be midi height or tall - to house extra fold up chairs for when dining table extended and, in future, a place for kids toys. E. Island and kitchen straight run. Dependent on plumbing and extraction for a ceiling hood, could have either sink or hob on island if you fancy. F. Full depth cleaning cupboard for vacuum and mop etc. G.WM and TD space with shelving either side for folded washing and hanging rail for shirts etc - ie a proper laundry room . NB if not on a party wall - vented TD would be great ! Hope this gives you food for thought . Kind regards, Karen OnePlan [ marketing note - this is an example of the sketch consult service OnePlan provide... We happily provided this for free to this Houzzer, on this occasion . Comments (6)Hi Yvonne. That sounds a little dear to me. As a guide I've had bathrooms/en suites fitted for £1500-2000 (including tiling and the guy is really good). My mum is currently doing the same as you removing a partition ŵall between kitchen/diner and removing patio doors and an internal door. Kitchen is being fitted, electrics, moving some pipes and a reskim of 1/2 rooms and then 4 small rooms decorated for £8,500 and the guy is a member of FMB. Flooring is separate to that. I don't know how much it is to extend the pipes for the shower room as that can be dear nor the cost of your fittings though but it seems a little steep, I'm based in essex btw but 40 miles from London so I would probably add on 15% for London?? I must admit I actually found my mums quote dear! Do you have a plan of your house and then people may be able to make suggestions for all off the ground floor space?...See MoreKitchen Colours - Floor tiles cabinets and worktops dilema
Comments (24)Hi Cake lady thanks for your comment. I have considered the wood effect tiles. However the kitchen adjoins a hall which has an oak laminate floor. I'm concerned the two different types of wood will clash. what do you think? Good to know they're low maintenance. I'm steering well away from gloss tiles as spent years trying to keep black gloss tiles clean in our bathroom. Finally replaced last year !...See MoreKitchen cabinet colour dilema
Comments (12)Judging by your plan, if you’re kitchen is south facing, it’s going to be flooded with light. I tend to prefer darker colours in poorly lit places but lighter colours for sunny rooms. I’m not a big fan of grey but Ammonite is a very subtle shade and I think it would look good on the perimeter units. I fear that a darker colour people suck the life out of your bright sunny room. The island can then be any colour you like as a contrast. I feel that a whole kitchen in Pelt might be a bit too much, but the island in Pelt would look amazing. It’s a beautiful colour and would be a real talking point. Without wishing to be controversial, I think the days of the dark blue kitchen may be coming to an end. It might look dated very quickly. If Pelt is the colour that’s captured your imagination, then go for it...See MoreJonathan
