Replacement knobs on plates, instead of handles on backplates?

I have double doors which open into a hotpress. Each door has a standard brass lever handle on a back plate . However these are simply 'pull' open doors, i.e. there is no lock, nor need for lever handles. So i was going to replace the unnecessary handles with 'pull' knobs.. ( Probably ceramic or vintage-y. ) I don't want to fill the holes left by the screws, ; or repaint etc..., so i was hoping to find a back plate and a knob combination. However it seems most ''back plates with knobs'' have a keyhole!. The other possibility is a solid finger plate with a knob placed separately below. This however would look stupid as the door 'pulls' not 'pushes'. Has anyone seen a knob & Backplate combination WITHOUT a keyhole? OR have another idea.??? thanks..

Hi. I saw these, but I'm not a fan of the chromed/ brass look. I'm looking something like vintage/ceramic/ rustic.. They're a bit 'heavy'.. I like the repro vintage door knobs you can find for a few pounds. Small and decorative.

Hi we would recommend working on the space / layout first, so that would include looking at windows and how the light works in your kitchen, for example the cabinet to the right of your back door could be much shallower or removed altogether ! Of course storage is always a priority but space planning is so important to the final look. I also look at the balance between floor, cabinets , worktops and walls, and because of the length of your room the floor is going to be significant element. The high end look you are looking for will come from proportions, colours, attention to detail and quality materials and fitting.

So you know I bought a single 'click deco' brand dolly light switch a while back and found it to be pretty poor quality so it was returned. Ended up with these: http://www.forbesandlomax.com/the-unlacquered-brass-range.html Really good quality and they have lovely finishes too. I quite like their antique bronze range too as it contrasts nicely with chrome/nickel finishes without clashing. If you'd really like everything to match then take a look at the Jim Lawrence range. They're not the cheapest but offer both light switches and door furniture in a large selection of finishes. Thanks everyone for weighing in, lots of food for thought. I'm more bothered about looks than functionality (!) so think I'll stick with the shorter handles horizontal in the middle of the doors. Looks less cluttered. Still debating about the mix on wall 1 though! @ Hazel Kindley I think I got the idea for the brass plinth from Houzz! Not 100% sure how I'm going to do it yet. Will order standard plinths with my kitchen and possibly get them wrapped in brass sheet, or I may see if I can get a fabricator to make new ones. The problem is that I need two 4m lengths and don't want too many joins in them.

I don't think wood filler is going to help, it's really for small imperfections rather than gaping holes. I would suggest that you change to a latch type handle, which will then be larger than the big hole you have on the left and cover it enough for the screws to have good wood to grab to. There will still be a hole on the right when you've screwed the latch in , but you may be able to put some filler on the right after fitting the latch. It's not the right way to do it, but it would suffice if you don't want to buy a new door. Alternatively, you would need to fill the door with bits of pinned in wood for the filler to grab to and I wouldn't suggest a DIY novice attempt it.

I would buy some small knobs immediately.. The problem lies in disguising the hole/unpainted area that the door handle plate will leave,. when i remove it... I'm trying to not have to re-do the entire door, just to change the handles..
