They are lovely handles Patrina. I'm having a bit of a handle issue since the holes in the pull handles on the four drawers are 83mm centre to centre and there are not many options with that sizing in brushed brass. I've found a couple of possibilities from china but with the problems there I'm not sure how long they will take to arrive.

Hi, Lovely Space you have! I agree with the above comments, I would remove the cooker hood covering, as this dates the kitchen a little and replace it with a new extractor fan. If you go with a stainless steel hood like the one attached below will make it feel a bit more modern. Also I would paint the kitchen an off white or cream colour to keep the warmth of the overall room. Adding some feature lights where you have the table, something more modern like a hanging pendant will add a focus point and give off some lovely light when on. It might be a good idea to change the table and chairs to a more modern table and chair set, this will also help to update the overall feeling of the room. Hi Mariam, Good luck with your exciting project! I believe a good starting point is to have some photos (they can be from Houzz) of spaces that you like. I created one for you using Ideabooks as a starting point. The images you select do not even need to be kitchens! They just need to be images that you find inspiring. The words "contemporary" and "neutral" are so subjective in the world of design. Clarifying this will help us to guide you better in terms of assisting you to come up with a design scheme you'll be happy with. Given your views & the colors of your view, I believe you should go with a bright & airy approach as opposed to dark & moody. I hope my ideabook is of some help!

Hello Amanda, : )) Do you mean in the kitchen? Yes a nice idea. I like flat plate too, but really plain. Well the best way to describe how I feel about certain alterations is to tell you about someone I knew who "did up" her flat to such a degree that she literally took away all that was characterful about it.. Sometimes it's best to leave things as their patina develops over time and results in something quite special. Restoration is one thing but you can also restore the life out of something and thus diminish in certain contexts the value- and so it's good to know when to stop.. So yes, I'm firmly in the camp suggesting leave them, but of course it's entirely your choice. : ))
