HI Wayne B, Glad you like one of the lights. If you go ahead and buy it come back to us and we'll do you a nice little discount. Yes sure, know what you mean, sorry to preach, I understand you are looking more at the shape of the tube for your light but how that fits onto the lamp holder part is the complex bit. And that's the bit, the electrical part I was a tad concerned about as the shade will need something to be fabricated especially for it, otherwise it won't hold that shade on to the lamp holder part. I just didn't want you to buy something that wasn't exactly right for the purpose you want it for. Forgive me for butting in if you know exactly what you're doing, I butt out again! I'm not expert at much, but lighting is something in which I have a fair bit of knowledge to share - that and eating chocolate! but as I don't share chocolate or chocolate eating it tips that may not help you. And too be fair, a choc bar a day is not helping me very much either!! Great that you are looking at using LED bulbs, you're right they are much cooler to the touch so safer in acrylic and plastic lampshades and have the added extra bonus they save lots of money on the running costs too, if your plan works that's certainly the right way to go. If you see a lamp or lampshade and just love it, buy it and use that as your inspiration for the scheme. Paints are slightly easier to get in a variety of colours. You're in a great position to be able to do anything. Lighting doesn't have to be the same in every space but you are right a common theme is good, this can be to use the same colour metalwork on the light fittings or a similar theme e.g.: industrial and follow that theme throughout the scheme. To be honest there's no right way to do this, it's all down to finding the things you like and arranging them to suit your lifestyle and taste. If you are really unsure there's loads of interior designers on Houzz who may be able to advise. If the budget allows appoint one to help. In a previous hone I bought these Dar Zaragoza lights and used them as bedside lights hung at chest height. I also needed a diffuser for the top, was concerned about the weight so discounted glass and had a disc of Perspex cut and it was just the job

Choose something that will mask the bulb when you’re looking at the pendant from underneath (ie in bed). Habitat also did a larger size, they look quite dramatic but give a nice soft yellow light, perfect for a bedroom. When it comes to light fixtures, larger is almost always better.
