Will wallpaper elevate or destroy my tiny bathroom

I’ve been remodelling my bathroom and it’s pretty much there. It has patterned monochrome tiles on the floor and white (greyish) ones on the wall. The furniture is all white and fittings are matte black. My builders convinced me to just put in tiles on the wet area and half tile everywhere else.
Now it’s in, it looks a bit uninspiring - and, if I’m honest, a bit cheap. I was in the Wythe hotel in NY the other day and loved the cool wallpaper on the walls in the toilet and it made me wonder whether something like that could work in my bathroom?
I think it would need to be white/black and an illustration would be cool, but is that madness? No idea whether heavy pattern, something quirky or really simple would work best. I’d be happy with a ‘more is more’ approach to pattern but with the strips of boring nothing tiles in the middle it may well look weird.
To wallpaper or not? What wallpaper? How do I fix the room??

Comments (27)Hi the floor tiles we are using are from tops tiles , I can't see them on their website but they have them in their shop . They are dark grey/ black 30x60 and are Matt but in certain lights have a very tiny sparkle . Not the ones with big sparkly bits and that are shiny . If I go in again I will find out the name . Comments (6)Thank you. the current tiles in there are really quite big - much bigger than this size on the paper. To be honest I'm trying to do as much cosmetic improvement to the house as possible using as little money as possible so I hadn't thought of removing the bottom tiles and doing that whole wall with this paper but yes I think that would look good, much better than doing half. I imagine we could remove the current tiles ourselves but would then get someone in to re plaster that bit of wall? Comments (13)Hi Paula, why don't we try and base the design from the items that you don't like: green floor and magnolia basin and toilet. You could paint the walls in two colours, splitting them in an horizontal way (see inspiration picture attached). The bottom part could be a similar green to the floor and the top part a magnolia like the sanitary ware. You can also paint the radiator in the green colour like the walls. I would stop the green like 15/20 cm above the top of your sink to create a kind of splash back effect. You can then add pictures on the walls to make it more cosy. Ceiling painted in the magnolia colour and skirting too. This is the cheapest solution I could think of... Good luck!...See Morewand3rlust

6 years agoI, too would go for a darker wall. Maybe get it matched to the pattern in the tile or one or two shades lighter.
Here are some examples, have a play around with the dulux or crown visualiser apps to get a rough idea.

6 years agoWhat a great little tool! I can really clearly see how a darker colour would work on the walls and something like this grey option might work well.
