urgent kitchen and bathroom layout suggestions needed
Comments (9)Hello `Sarah, I think the kitchen is fantastic!!! Please keep it!!! So I have some suggestions.. I think it has some great elements.. The design and colour of the cupboards plus those tiles are really fabulous, also love the floor too.. I'd keep it all!!! The top cupboards are gr8 without glass and your image is very different and dare I say not nearly so interesting.. Maybe you can celebrate the uniqueness of it! Minnie is right to suggest moving the cabinets closer to the ceiling (it has been lowered in part but I would leave it as is) easily done without damage and you can move the boiler in line with them.. .. This is a gr8 idea as it will feel a little more open and spacious.. you could then paint above the tiles a lovely warm chalky white or off white.. and any other wall areas.. It will balance the units out and I would definitely keep the colour the same here top and bottom... If you don't want to change the current configuration too much and keep costs down, I would buy a free standing chrome range oven like Smeg dual fuel and extractor Aeg angled hood and fit in same place as current oven.. Dualit toaster and kettle Bugatti Vera in chrome.. Angled extractor hood Aeg and a smeg 50's white fridge would be nice here too! With the fridge I feel it could stand at the end of the counter top.. Leave the sink exactly as it is and the boiler too, all you then need to do is put a cabinet shell and door on the front of the opening where fridge was and paint it and the bits of cabinet that are white to the shade of yellow and voila! Anther storage space for the dishwasher. I would move that metal shelf or add another if you like it.. .. Add a polycarbonate pendant Creatures by Nigel Coates which would look amazing with the kitchen.. Also the kitchen is definitely not past it!!! (added that bit after reading the comment further down) : ))...See MoreHow would you layout this master bathroom?
Comments (6)Hi Allegra, I see you've duplicated the post, my answer is on your first one. But, basically it's this:- When I plan, i like to try to visualise exactly what will greet me when i open the door. In this case I chose not to see either the toilet or bidet, and to give the persons using those a little privacy. ( I'm guessing that plumbing requirements dictate that the soil pipe be near to the outside wall with the window on it. ) Therefore, upon opening the door, straight ahead is the double vanity with low (false ) wall behind it ( i made mine 1.2 Metres high ), This gives way to room for possibly a small shelf etc upon which to put soap etc. It also disguises behind it, the toilet and bidet, now not visible from the door. The toilet roll holder will site on the wall on the left next to the toilet. You also have room to hang towels on the wall to the left of the basins. The bath went in the top right corner ( and drains straight through the outside wall ) . Then to the immediate right upon opening the door, a large walk in shower. The towel radiator sits between the shower and the bath and is easily accessible from both. Maybe that would work for you?...See MoreBathroom layout/design
Comments (4)Could you maybe just open up the chimney breast as alternative? Like when you see a cooker within a chimney breast, but pop the sink in there? Don't know the cost implications of this or whether it'd be significantly cheaper than completely removing. I managed to find example online....See MoreInternal layout changes to enlarge kitchen and 2 bathrooms upstairs
Comments (11)Opening up some will surely help. Like Jonathan said, there are many many options. I changed the hallway, some coat space, double glass door to let in more light, loo. Then kitchen with pantry, as there are plenty full bathrooms. Backdoor for muddy/wet shoes on the side. Since it is such a large space, how about a massive sofa in the lounge? And window seat, if height allows. Keep the downstairs bedroom and bathroom, as it can be a playroom, a guestroom (b&b?) or even future master bed. I did open up the dressing area, to make it brighter. Washing machine could go anywhere, I drew them there, but it would be quite the walk with hampers, so might it be an idea to place it upstairs (eaves storage perhaps?). Upstairs I opened up the study, as the master bedroom ate the window. I tried keeping most loadbearing walls (or which seemed to be) though the chimney on the left had to go anyway. Kept the landing storage, for linen, towels, seasonal clothing, christmas decoration, there are always things that need a place. Certainly move the heater though (if it's still there). Also think about heating, insulation, efficiency. Things that will make it more comfortable and pay themselves back in the long run. Planning is key. Hope it will help with creating your future layout and dreamhouse pleasures....See MoreCarolina Kitchen & Bath
