just bought similar rug in 3X5 size that may be identical. want it to be same colors and design. please confirm if it is and if available in 2X3 (ish) size

Duck egg blue goes well with the existing colours you have there. Or if you're feeling adventurous, perhaps try painting one wall in a rich peacock blue! If blues aren't your thing, maybe an aubergine shade could work. Do you have blinds or curtains? What are they like? In one of my rooms I hung a plain burgundy blind (to coordinate with the patterned wallpaper) with a sheer cheesecloth-style voile gathered at one side. I was surprised how much brighter the room looked after I hung the voile. If you could post a couple of photos, it makes it easier for others to come up with suggestions as they may see something you haven't thought to mention.

Thank you. Yes had to use my powers to persuade my partner :D I'm kidding it was quite easy actually. I was looking at that FC rug actually but the size put me off. Looking at your picture I must say I quite like layered rugs. Need to put some masking tape down to see where they could be placed..I'm struggling to imagine it. Or anything else in fact :) We've decided the sofa will stay at the wall for now. It just feels better. I'll order some white hydrangeas..thanks for the tip I'll look at M&S or Bloom does 3 for 2 too. We have an ornate rectangular golden mirror which I want to test above the fire surround before I look for a new one. Not sure about a coffee table. I was going to wait for the armchair to be delivered to help me see if a coffee table is needed..? Will check out the art and cushions. I guess I do need to order a rug(s) or console so we can go from there..

Hi , We are using both colours ...I prefer dark ,hubby prefers light . But both look good so we are leaving the units as they are .just need to change flooring and we are done . It was worth the effort though at the time I was regretting starting the project but the paint and Handle changes have made such a difference to the room. All for about 100 pounds :-) It's worth the time and effort and more satisfying because we have done the work ourselves.

Yes I feel it definitely needs a warm colour and pink is a good idea, I do like very pale colours which is why I have stuck to grey and white on the walls but maybe a warm colour is needed. You have highlighted the alcoves that also drive me mad, they are different sizes which doesnt help! I recently bought the bureau which I like but the console table is an expensive piece of furniture we bought years ago which I have tried to use all over the house and it really doesn't go anywhere else but I do think you are right! We were very naive when we moved into our house and assumed our existing furniture would fit in well but have bought virtually all new furniture that we didn't budget for - so that's a lesson for the future!
