what colour flooring do you put with a pastel blue 1960's bathroom

mottled blue wall tiles and white ceiling and walls

need an economical temporary fix

I have these in my en-suite, Porcelanosa. They have a bit of a 1970's look about them and I would have them again.

I am having White under counter basin . I want basin counter , floor and shower bench to be of same colour marble but different colour from my beige Parleto wall. Please suggest colour . Do you mean White Carara Italian marble ? What is Ceasarstone Eggshell ? I have put my wall marble tiles in horizontal pattern . There will be no wooden cabinets in the bath. Bathroom height is 10.5 ft. Should I use a Chandellier and some spot lights for the White colour ceiling ? My style is traditional .

You're welcome! This is an exciting project and I really hope you'll share the results, whatever you decide to do! I think metro tiles are the right way to go. You've already got pattern and bold colour covered so something more simple is probably right for the walls. Besides, it's a classic design. You could do it with a dark grout if you wanted to make a bolder statement. [This Houzz story[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/magazine/decorating-10-different-ways-to-use-classic-metro-tiles-stsetivw-vs~25104664) about metro tiles shows them mostly with dark grout and might help you visualise it. Marble would definitely work and look incredible. Just be careful to bear in mind the structure of the unit and how much weight it can hold. You have to consider the weight of the surface material, the sink, and the water it would have in it when full. Maybe even think about what you're going to fill the cupboards with and how heavy that could be. Perhaps it would be worth reinforcing the vanity in some way. Other than marble you could use tiles or just varnish the surface really well. All of these options will look great in different ways. Even though you're not DIY-ing it, take a look at this "how-to" to give you a better idea of the process. Quick update: The three bedrooms and landing were spray painted. Not entirely convinced it saved labour and have to factor in purchase of spray painter and used double the amount of emulsion. Plus felt guilty not using my regular decorator :( We have now started work downstairs. At the rear of the house (see plan posted previously) was a bedroom and dining room. Decided to take out the wall between the two to make the two rooms into open plan kitchen/ diner. Unfortunately the ceiling came down when the wall was taken out so additional work required to rebuild and plaster. When renovating always expect the unexpected! Although it cost several extra days in labour to make good, there was a saving in electricians time as he didn't have to scrabble around in the roof void to fit the new wiring! Ceiling and all walls in new room have been plastered and kitchen units fitted. Really pleased with the Dove Grey Shaker units with copper handles from Howdens. Had the cupboard handles fitted horizontally so they can line up with the handle on the integrated dishwasher (still to be installed) as well as the drawer handles. Dithered about a gas hob as I think people prefer (?) but went for an induction hob in the end as sits level with the worktop also thought safer as hob had to be sited into the breakfast bar. A lovely wooden beam (over hob) had been boxed in so we have pulled off the old plaster- it will be sanded down eventually. Next job; stripping out the old kitchen at the front of the house......

Yes i think the back door would be a good idea. We thought about making the current window into a door as you’ve suggested, it’s a low ceiling but could just about get away with it as it’s a cottage. I think that’s our other option that you’ve suggested but was going to separate the utility room in two so that we’d could get a toilet in and a small part of the utility. However that means changing the window Into 2 smaller ones and a lot more work (we’re trying to keep the cost down as much as possible!)

Why not post a pic of your bathroom and suite? Colourhappys pics show that you can update bathrooms in a great way without necessarily having to go buy new. So perhaps with some clever choices the budget temporary update can be the permanent one?

The most economical choice is a lino. I would choose a parquet style in greys for that bathroom
