Should I break up a tiled feature wall with some other detail?
Hi,
I have my heart set on the beautiful designworks tiles to go above my bath against the bathroom back wall. What I'm not sure about is if it will be too much just to have this wall of colour or if I need to break it up be that with some shelving or some other detail. What would you do?
This is the tile in another setting (Designworks Mont Blanc)
and a not very good mock up of my bathroom (not using the actual tile or furniture but closest I could find).
The floor will be a slate brown with copper tones with plain white tiles elsewhere and possibly a pale taupe paint for any left over space.
Further would you bring the tile around the walls at the bottom and top of the bath or keep it white. And there's a shower cubicle in the left corner, should I tile that in the teal as well?

If you like Blossom prints they have Van Gogh's Almond Blossom print that you can make as big as you like to fit your wall or headboard space. I was very tempted to use this when redecorating my bathroom recently and will probably do a feature wall in my bedroom when I get round to it. They seem to have a large image bank of other art work if the colour is too much. What I like is that you can take the design with you if you move, unlike expensive wallpaper! Good luck with yours! You can change colours, increase/decrease certain colours until you achieve your exclusive blend. My husband started painting the doors in a light blue colour but it doesn’t seem to come together with the rest of the scheme unless I put some down in it somewhere? Comments (13)I wouldn't bother as I would imagine a lot of it will be covered up by the loo etc. However i do sympathise, we (I say we, I hid upstairs and the OH did the deed) had a very awkward conversation and a very mardy and petulant tiler once, when we had our downstairs cloak room done. In a room which was under 1 m wide he had laid the floor tiles which were 40 x 40cms in a way that was easier for him because he had less cuts to make (on porcelain tiles), but it meant that there was an off centre grout line down the centre of the room (and loo) when he should have laid a full time down the middle and cut tiles to fit each side. He also didn't have a central grout line or full tile at the door threshold either. We made him do it again, under much protest and mumbling on his part. But we needed it done quickly for a planned house warming party we were having, so we just carried on with him. I bitterly regret allowing him to carry on and despite my constant desire to get them redone every time I go in there, we've not yet managed to find a combination of the money, the time or the right person to re-do it. Incidentally, the whole downstairs cloakroom project taught me a valuable lesson, which I've always remembered and seems to hold true every time. 6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoI have a similar look in my bathroom and used one wall of quartzite tiles which are green/gold. The other tiles are porcelanosa dover tiles which come in different neutral colours. I went for Dover Caliza and painted the wall Skimming Stone so it looked seamless. They are matt and textured.
