Comments (20)Love love love those pics Nicola B, I'll definitely bring some of those features into the seating area. Lots of suggestions for blue so I searched for a blue chair and found this that I love - went to look at it in the 'flesh' too and it's the most gorgeous navy, almost with a dusk to it so not really really dark - I guess a dark denim type of colour, they do them in light grey too so going to get a mix! Some other bits I saw on my virtual travels I thought would work....... thank you to everyone so has chipped in, you have helped me get a bit of focus here and I'm very grateful!...See MoreWhat colours help kitchen blend into home studio (work space)
Comments (6)Hi Carmen, Regarding Q1 - I think the first picture of the concrete, would work well as you have warm light coming through to your kitchen so it's a good idea to leverage the light with the look you are after. I assume this is your worktop? Q2 - I'm not sure what you mean in terms of which colour should you use for the cupboard doors. I wouldn't recommend using the same material as the worktop. I would add a contrasting colour from your floors if they are white. It also depends on the look and feel you are after? Do you want it to look light and bright? In which case steer away from darker heavier colours. Q3 - I guess the only thing I would say, is do you have the space to move it to another area? Only go for this option if you know you are going to move it around. Otherwise a fixed island maybe better as you can use it as a breakfast area too? Q4 - Agree on the units not going all the way to the top of the ceiling, the only thing I would say is only go for this option as long as you don't put anything on top of the units! If you do need this area for storage then take the units up to the top. Hope that helps Thanks Rukmini Patel Interior Design...See MoreHelp... need colour in my new kitchen!
Comments (19)I love that your husband fitted your kitchen! It looks great. Completely understand not wanting to lose the bright and vibrant Fuchsia, it seems like your home is rather vibrant and fun. My recommendation would be to have one feature wall in the Fuchsia (I would advise the one behind the armchair) as this would keep the fun whilst picking up the accents of your table runner and kitchen accessories. I would then paint the walls by the window a grey to complement the colour used in the kitchen. To compliment your curtains (instead of having to buy new ones) once you have toned down the walls, I would consider adding a throw pillow in a plain lime colour on the armchair to pick up the colour of the curtain. It is a very personal choice, but that would be my recommendation :) I hope it helps!...See MoreIs it strange to have completely different colours in different rooms?
Comments (10)Hi, I have a different colour in every room, but by that I mean soft or deep colours, not bright clashing shades. For example my living room is a pale green (F&B Cromarty) all over, leading to my kitchen which is a pale duck egg (Dulux Mint Macaroon) and a navy feature wall (Little Green Woad). Not all rooms need a feature wall and sometimes it can complicate your colour choices. I certainly wouldn’t paint your hall stairs and landing in different greys, stick to one colour. Also grey looks lovely in some lights and grim in others. Light is everything as Marylee states. Another thing is that your colour choices need to gel with the other items in the room such as sofas and furniture. I realise having to decorate a whole house can be daunting, but I would concentrate on one room at a time, make up a mood board featuring furniture styles, wall colours, flooring, accessories etc. If you are finding this difficult then start another post for the first room you wish to decorate, share pictures, and lots of people will give you advice. We’ve all asked for advice on Houzz at some point! Good luck....See MoreE A
