Will an integrated extractor stop grease build up on cupboard fronts?

Hi everyone. Having a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I have a kitchen that has recessed cupboard units above the hob. The only preferable extractor fan I can find is the Elica Sklock 90, it is integrated but has a slide out glass panel that may stop greasy residue from accumulating on the front of the cupboard doors. Does anyone know of any others of a similar design that would stop the grease build up on front of the cupboard doors? Or does anyone have any experience with an ordinary integrated one minus the panel? Do you get build up on the cupboard fronts? I’d prefer not to get a canopy or other hood type as I want it hidden away.

Comments (18)I would loose the doors to the side- you won't enjoy the best view, don't need the light but could do with the wall space. I also think the double sided fireplace is a choice for you not future buyers as it limits the wall space and use of the side room (which is fine). Personally I don't think you gain much by making it a dining room next to your current dining space. But I do think reclaiming an underused room and it having lots of possible uses is a brilliant plan. I think when you get the builders in you should either put a porch on the side (and make it big enough to also be a laundry room). Alternatively make the whole room longer by extending a few feet into the back garden so that there is room for both a shower room and a laundry and then move the side door to the back giving more privacy to the bonus room at the front....See MoreBORA induction hob with down draft

We want best steam and fat clearance rates, quietest motors, easy-clean (unsure re self-clean, ducted or recirulated air). Berbel's FaceBook page features lots of customer complaints regarding after-sales service and spare parts, but some seem due to Covid delays which we think is unavoidable; another mentions guests sitting "in a haze" from the recirculated air and obviously nobody wants that! Comments (20)We prefer a hob on the island, we also agree with your husband that new induction technology will be the safest option for you and your family. The rings only get hot when a pan is on them and when a pan is removed, yes there is still heat there, however it is not scalding hot. It is also more sociable in our opinion to have the hob on the island is you are entertaining people. In regards to the extraction, you could ask your builder/kitchen installer to build a drop ceiling detail the same size and shape of your island to set the island location and have an extractor built into it which wouldn't be in your eye sight, you can also get external motors which boost the power and strength making the extraction work better. Comments (22)extraction comes under part F of building regs, so your architect should be detailing this in the plans for the extension. As i understand part F the important bit is Part F When inserting or removing an internal wall, care should be taken not to make ventilation worse. Any new kitchen, a toilet with no openable window; a bath/shower room or utility room should be provided with a mechanical extract fan. The type of room will determine how much ventilation is required. Part F says that where a kitchen previously had only a recirculating fan this can be retained/replaced if it is made no worse. However, I would always recommend fitting an extractor to deal with condensation. • Kitchen: 30l/s if over the hob and 60l/s if placed elsewhere so you could have an expelair type extractor on an external wall that will comply with regs at a minimum....See More
