Mixing tiles shapes
Hi can you advise please on my dilemma... using patterned floor tiles and rustic off white metro on 3 walls... around bath other half want larger light grey tiles (stone like). I would prefer doing a collage of rustic tiles in a mixture of colours but he says it will be too much... thoughts? The mosaic MAY be used in alcoves in bath. I have a small uk bathroom... you can see on the photo everything we are planning to use... but not sure about the grey walls :/

Comments (9)I'm not sure if they're more fashionable? My personal preference is typically rectangular. Tiles laid in a grid pattern means you get a long grout line and leads your eye onwards so makes the space feel bigger. Laying them diagonally means you still get the long grout line but you don't "see" the edges so it feels bigger still. Large tiles are generally much better to create the feeling of space, less grout lines so less busy. It does mean your floor needs to be really level though. Comments (7)Ah ok! i would price up both options as your refurb wont be cheap then, it may be better to do exactly what you want as you’ll still be left with grout? I know the panels can go straight over tiles if necessary but do they sell ”trim” for dealing with the window recess?? Are you installing a glass screen so as to delineate the shower area? You could also just paint the remaining walls although they may need reskimming.....See More- PRO

5 years agoGreat job on selecting the colour scheme! The tiles look amazing! Our clients like the best, when we install pattern floor on the floor and then tile half way with white metro tiles and from there up paint the walls in a colour to complement the tiles, in this case a nice light blue.

5 years agoWe see it’s actually light green, so a nice sage green colour would work nicely. And you can use either mosaic or pattern tiles in the shower nice again-wil make a nice contrast with the white metro tiles..

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoThe floor tiles are lovely. I personally would avoid mosaic, sorry not sure how to say it nicely but they can look a bit naff. I’ve attached a photo from a recent post with similar floor tiles and the end result is stunning.

5 years agoI really like this idea of the alcove using the floor tile!!! that is the tile we are planning to use around the bath. Light grey. Bigger tiles, less grout and Matt so more forgiving (ignore the patterned side!)
