Bathroom tile -can you mix real and porcelain effect marble?
Comments (6)Thanks that was helpful and your Denver project looks great! We were thinking of using a herringbone 2x5" or 2"hexagon calacatta mosaic on the bathroom floor with larger format (18x30ish) porcelain marble effect tiles on the wall. Great pointer about tile depth! I actually have a question about your Denver project as we're considering to use a freestanding bath vs. inset bath in a similar layout (bath and shower sharing a wall). Not sure if I have enough space for a freestanding bath and wondered how close the freestanding bath should be offset from the walls? I might only have a couple spare inches on each short side and a bit more behind the bath for taps. Don't want it to look squeezed in!...See MoreHelp in deciding what shape and size floor tiles
Comments (9)I'm not sure if they're more fashionable? My personal preference is typically rectangular. Tiles laid in a grid pattern means you get a long grout line and leads your eye onwards so makes the space feel bigger. Laying them diagonally means you still get the long grout line but you don't "see" the edges so it feels bigger still. Large tiles are generally much better to create the feeling of space, less grout lines so less busy. It does mean your floor needs to be really level though. You also need to be careful tHat it doesn't become busy by the number of cuts needed for the tiles though!...See MoreKitchen/open plan flooring - mixing materials

Comments (7)Ah ok! i would price up both options as your refurb wont be cheap then, it may be better to do exactly what you want as you’ll still be left with grout? I know the panels can go straight over tiles if necessary but do they sell ”trim” for dealing with the window recess?? Are you installing a glass screen so as to delineate the shower area? You could also just paint the remaining walls although they may need reskimming.....See MoreUser
