Bedroom decor help

I got a piece of unusual art a while ago and I haven't yet got round to putting it up. I love the colours in it and want to create a bedroom based around it but am really stuck!

I got tester pots of the colours in the art but they seem a little bit too in your face for a bedroom to me - I think I want something lighter while still colourful; any ideas would be appreciated as I am awful at visualising and putting together schemes!

A slightly paler blue on the walls with white simple bed linen and green, yellow and blue cushions on the bed might work with this interesting painting . Hung behind the bed - so that is in close proximity to the cushions etc . It’s quite striking - so keeping everything else simple will let it keep its prominence.

I'd go for a pale'ish mint green, which would match your bed linen and leave the way clear for the artwork to stand out.

Hi Anna. The chairs work, I just find personally they're a little dark. I'd add a gold cushion on one and a throw over the arm of the other. A pretty scarf may work better sizewise and for draping. I think I'd go for a Louis cane chair without arms for the desk. Although the desk looks quite short (?) so if so perhaps a velvet footstool. What exactly were you looking to change in terms of decor and people can then make suggestions for a rug? It's another lovely room and I hope you don't mind me saying but I'm not sure the chest works that well in terms of style and colour.

Can you post a layout , include where the window & door and also the radiator, which looks not to be under the window ( not helping ). Also, as you are keeping the furniture, could you include the sizes of those pieces too. I think Hague blue will look great, really restful in a bedroom too. Maybe you could change the handles on the furniture for slightly more old fashioned ones to tie in with the bed also.

The Glass Warehouse bottom pic is where my mind went with this. Id go for a plain silver/light grey rug. Always look great against dark wood. Remove curtains altogether, replace with a plain pale grey or white black out roller blind, straight edge. Looks like theres room to have larger chests of drawers, stick to similar dark wood. Pure plain white bedding, then accent with a mix of green and silver/grey, green and a darker grey cushions, bring in some pattern here and plain ones , perhaps to break it up. you could also add a throw blanket ovrr right corner of the bed, could be black to tie in with chandeliier?? Then a couple of big lamps to fill space on the back wall, simple shades in a pale/silver grey. Silver accents on chests Woold give you a modern/hotel look. just an idea, i get carried away! hope you end up with something you really love .

I would steer clear from matching the colours in the artwork with the walls, with the exception of the plum colour. Deep couloirs show artwork to its best so a strong, deep plum in just one wall would make the print stand out. If you don’t want to go so dark, go for white (Or a very delicate off white like timeless from dulux). In both cases you can have bed linen in a blue and white pattern, add a yellow throw and some plum and yellow accessories.

In agreement with the above comments, I would not do the walls the same colour as the art. It would have the opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve. Cushions on the bed would work better in this case.
