Hallway Paint Colour

I’m looking for a paint colour for hall, stairs and landing that will link/complement the colours used in each of the rooms (shown in image). The house is a Victorian semi over 3 floors, white woodwork and grey carpet. There is very little natural light (north facing glazed front door and a sky light on top floor).

Space as it is currently (light fittings to be changed, and eventually we’ll reinstate banisters)

Gorgeous colours! I would use one of the colours you’re already going for - maybe the taupe or the pale pink?

Hi there! I quite like the purple, reminds me a bit of the hallway in this property: As for decoration, you could nab some ideas from above - a patterned rug in muted/pastel colours, an statement ceiling light, hooks for coats. The bench looks nice, but if you wanted something more practical you could maybe go for either a shoe rack or a combination shoe rack/side-table with a few drawers in it for keys and general storage space: If you don't have the room for that because of the radiator, you could cover the radiator and use the top as a surface to put things on (a vase, to leave your keys etc). You could hang a mirror above this, or a some artwork on any bare wall space: Hope this has been of some help, best of luck!

It would be really useful to post a few photos. A lot depends on the actual space, but also the exact colour of the carpet and tiles. I don't think I would go for pure white with quarry tiles, it could look a bit harsh. Earthy stoney colours could work well with quarry tiles.

Just wanted to say such a lovely hallway and I wouldn't say it's dark at all!!! Please don't counteract your dark feeling by painting it all light. It needs colour, what I'm not sure but it's going to be lovely!!

I’d opt for the 2nd colour the pale green. It suits grey carpet. It’s similar to what I’m having but I have oak woodwork not white.

Try Dulux Dusted Moss 3, it's a pale grey / green, in different lights it's hard to make out if it's green or grey, but it will work well with the carpet.

I also prefer that every room is painted in an overall same colour, possibly with accent walls, but with different coloured accessories to give each room it's own personality, thus I wouldn't paint the hall, landing and stairs, i'd do the whole house.

Thanks all for your suggestions so far.

I think a pale grey/greige might be the way forward but still undecided!

Colourhappy - it's not so obvious from the photos but it's really not a nice grey. It's almost purple/blue and not very welcoming, also clashes with the carpet as it's a different tone.

It's tricky because the first image shows the carpet and walls to look cold and bluish, the last image, the carpet looks warmer and the walls violet. This shows why it's a bit risky to give paint suggestions without seeing things. My opinion on poorly lit dingy areas is you need to go for cleaner colours or/more saturated. This means that whatever the hue or colour, how 'greyed' it is is very important when assessing light levels in a room. In a dingy room things are very grey and Northern light exaggerates this. Cleaner versions of a colour seem to suit these spaces. Saturated colours also work in dingy spaces, but that is not necessarily a solution for a hallway. Little Greene paints are really good as they give the LRV values, so you know how dark or light they are. However, you can have a darker clean colour and a lighter greyed colour and that's why this is all very confusing. I would try to go for something that is from the same hue family of the carpet if you can match it.
