Curtains in front of an internal door and rod choice?

I have two internal doors that leads to an internal yard, what's the ideal way to divert attention from them, as one of them leads to where the plumbing is and the other one leads to a cistern.

Also, what type of rods would you use? I am also worried about the light in both cases, as light doesn't come through as the property is ground floor.

1st picture Hallway: door is covered by a curtain that leads to a cistern.

2nd picture: that door leads to an internal yard where all the plumbing is found.

Personally I would get rid of the rods and curtains and just put in a plain, neutral coloured door to match your walls. That way the eye won't be drawn to the doors, and no one will be curious as to why you have a big curtain hanging up and what's behind it.

Hi Antonia, the problem is that those doors are external doors and cannot be made of wood due to water, security etc, thus they are made of aluminium.

Hello. Those doors are beautiful and do not need glass that will block your view and compete for attention. My suggestion is to have clear glass. If you can find old style antiqued glass, or handmade glass that would be my vote. Otherwise just use plain glass. The key is the view through the doors (both ways). The doors will function as a frame so arrange furniture accordingly. I suggest new long curtains that hang closer to the ceiling. A beautiful neutral linen, or something that excites you. If you hang a vibrant or patterned curtain then your black sofa (is it a chair?) will not dominate the view through the doors. If you elect for a neutral curtain, then you may want to relocate the black sofa in favour of a more neutral piece. Beautiful home, what we can see of it. Good luck!

A quick update after this weekends DIY :) I got a couple of doors completely sanded back and undercoated - used zinsser b.i.n (been recommended that by a painter - expensive, but holy schmoley, if you're looking for a good undercoat this is the baby). Picked up a tin of F&B 'worsted' and popped a couple of coats on. I just grabbed a small tin from HomeBase and if I'm being honest I didn't check the paint finish - ended up with 'Estate Eggshell' - I love the colour but I'm not keen on the finish, it's a bit to Matt for my liking I think. As the doors will be a 'statement' then I'm looking at something a lot more glossy - I may go modern eggshell. I assume that the general consensus is gloss for door yeah ?

Blinds would be the better option and would help the room feel more spacious. Wooden venetian blinds are good for controlling the light effectively, and would suit that window perfectly. You could also go for roman blinds, or if you're looking to block out as much light as possible, a blackout roller blind. Sorry I haven't read the comments (too many) but if you are considering keeping them, I'd send them off and get them dipped. If they come back in one piece then go from there. It may be they come back with a lot of damage, some panels may need to come out - but you can always update with fluted glass panels etc. If they come back and were full of filler etc and bad condition then sand, fill, sand again and paint a dark shade. You can make them look beautiful if you want to. It may be they come back in good condition! In which case you can stain and keep natural. I'd probably replace all the hardware though.

Could you paint the doors the same colour as the walls? I am sure there is paint that covers aluminium If the glass is clear, put an opaque film on it? Having curtains seems to draw the eye. You want your eye to be drawn away. Perhaps some richly coloured artwork in the hall as a focus point.

I don't think it's a good idea to paint aluminium as painting on that material tends to flake, and still I wouldn't solve a lot due to the fact that I cannot completely remove the glass, as it is lighting the place. I am trying to find a design solution.
