hallway help please!
Comments (24)I have just revisited this item and a thought has struck me. If you are intending to do the whole house room by room then it occurs to me that the hall should be the last area to do - simply to save tears. While you alter all the other rooms you will be carrying all materials and tools through the hallway - and of course that will increase the wear and tear factor, along with dings and scrapes from long and large bits of materials and furniture. I don't know the layout of the house, nor how badly other rooms need sorting out but I would start with rooms you actually use rather than simply pass through. Kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. In fact I would suggest sorting the living room first before you get so moved into it that vacating it to work on it would be problematic. The kitchen and bathroom don't tend to attract the amount of clutter and furniture that living rooms collect, so are easier to clear to basics to start work on. During this process your hallway may well end up being a makeshift store for materials while work is going on....See MoreHalf and half painted walls
Comments (25)Hello elg684, I like painted rads and you could do yours. Best way is to remove it prime with an all round paint like zinsser bullseye 123 which you can spray for a better finish including inside the rad. Then spray the rad a top coat of your choice. Matching the walls is a good way to blend them especially if they are not a beautiful architectural feature like old Victorian style can be. Of course if you don't want to do that you can find covers that are white stylish if plainer, and easier to paint that a colour of your choice.. :))...See MoreWhich wall would you mount the TV on?
Comments (27)Hi Lola, thanks for adding this comment. I'm highly inclined to agree with you but the thing that's annoying me is that right side wall with the clock on it. That's a solid brick wall. I love the idea of having that new fake wall built with sunk in niches/compartments on the left, top, bottom and TV in the middle. But the right side is going to look strange as there no symmetry with the left side AND I can't cut into the right side brick wall ....or....can I? I want the whole wall to be flush with niches but want that symmetry with top, bottom , right and left. Any ideas how I can achieve that? As I think out loud, I could ignore niches on the left as I can't do anything on the right and simply put niches on over and below the TV. This way you have symmetry on all 4 sides. So in summary: Above TV sunk in niched compartments Below TV sunk in niched compartments Left side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? Right side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? TV sunk in the middle. I'm not sure I like the blanked sides or hung pictures. With pictures you would have items protuding on the right/left sides whereas all other sides including the TV will be sunk in. Confusing on the eye? Any other ideas on how I might be able to combat this?...See MoreWall panelling question
Comments (19)I think you could do a two flanking a giant one to pick out the furniture, maybe like this: Uses the first three colour tests on the wall and some antiqued mirror infill for the sides, you could even incorporate LED strip lighting into the panel Beeding to breath a gentle mood light onto the wall and mirrors? The light switch could be easily dealt with, if you're laying panelling onto the wall just make sure its about the same thickness as the switch and its cut to fit flush around it, you can then paint the fitting to match, leave as is or change it to a stylish one to match the room....See MoreSonia
