Help with living room colour scheme
Comments (23)Thanks guys - some really helpful suggestions coming in! And I hope everyone's had a good Christmas. :) After talking with hubby some more, we've had a slight change of plan and decided not to go with the statement yellow wallpaper. We will still be going with the same colour scheme (mustard & grey with purple accents), but we will be painting the whole room in one colour (light grey or greige) and adding the mustard and purple with the soft furnishings and artwork. Now I'm a little stumped... having trouble imagining where the colours should come in exactly. I will list the items that will be in the room: - 1 sofa (ivory) - Gallery wall above sofa (family photos) - Sideboard which will have the TV on, and tall glass-door cabinet (both Ikea Hemnes grey-brown, which to me looks light brown) - 2 small tables either side of the sofa with lamps on - Large area rug - Hubby's desk and some floating wall shelves above that - Possibly a coffee table or ottoman - Some art (not much, it's a small room) and flowers/other greenery Now that the wallpaper is gone, the first thing I can think of that could bring in a large amount of yellow is the rug... or is it best to keep the rug a neutral colour too? Could anybody post examples of any rugs/artwork/accessories/lamps/side tables that you like and might go with my colour scheme? I am also posting some pictures of rooms that inspire me. Really struggling to envision this room! Thanks :-)...See MoreNeed help with my open plan kitchen living room colour scheme
Comments (6)Hello there, Thanks for your reply, and you’re very welcome. I have found you some similar colours to the list you have provided below: Farrow Ball Skimming Stone Dulux Elderflower Tea Farrow Ball Worsted 284 Dulux Dusted Moss 1 Farrow Ball Elephants Breath Dulux Knotted Twine I hope these colour suggestions are helpful. Unfortantly I wasn’t able to find the colour Wattle II or Wattle III, so I can’t match a Dulux colour from our range I’m afraid. If you would like to double check the colour names, or send me a link to the colours, I would be more than happy to find you a similar colour for you. Comments (5)Hi, I think grey and beige can work very well together. Basically you have a neutral colour scheme and I would keep to that: white, greys, beige. You could add a touch of brown, burnt orange, blue or green if you like. Or some black. Look at these rooms for some inspiration: https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/pacific-heights-home-living-room-contemporary-living-room-san-francisco-phvw-vp~384668 https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/living-room-contemporary-living-room-boston-phvw-vp~775479 https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/fairmont-pacific-rim-contemporary-living-room-vancouver-phvw-vp~166722...See MoreIs it weird to paint each room brightly different colour schemes?
Comments (9)I think we have all gotten scared of colour. So many homes on Houzz are bland, bland, bland and I don’t just mean beige. Grey has become the new beige. I have however noticed a sea change with more bright jewel colours taking the lead and hallelujah and amen to that. If you like colour then go for it. I don’t think it is in the least bit weird. In fact I envy you your courage of conviction. There are many designers out there past and present whose wonderful homes are a riot of colour. Bloomsbury Group for one and Kaffe Fassett who is better known for his needlepoint but his interiors are extraordinary too....See MoreRachel
