Hi there, the bricks specified were from Daniel Robertson bricks I believe.

Actually Amanda, I've cooked with gas for years but now I have induction I'd never go back. The heat is instant and adjustable in just the same way as gas however the heat distribution is superior as it's more even. The other advantages are that the hob doesn't get anywhere near as hot so it's far safer, especially with young children, also cleaning is much easier as there are no bits and bobs to remove and, as the hob doesn't get hot, no burnt on residue if there are any spillages. Before I bought the hob I was concerned about heat distribution in a wok as I stir fry a lot, but I can honestly say it's been great with that too. I don't have a minimal kitchen, just a sleek counter, and personally I find the bulky Wolf hobs unattractive, but each to their own. In summary, in my opinion, gas is good but induction is better. That said, I'm not keen on this kitchen at all, sorry St James. Normally you give great advice and suggestions but here the sockets look wrong and I'm not keen on how they look on the tiling. What matters though is the clients opinion, so if they love it that's brilliant.

Whilst I recognise there's a few tradespeople on here bemoaning fussy clients I have to say my biggest regrets when renovating my house was not being specific enough with trades! We had an electrician put in an extra light switch in the hall to control both the downstairs and upstairs lighting. He put it in a good 10-15cm lower than the other switch further along the same wall which looked completely ridiculous. Made him move it in line with the other one much to his annoyance. Another similar incident was with a vertical column rad for the kitchen - whilst I was specific enough this time to ask it be centered to the wall it was on, he installed it much higher than needed with about 30cm of pipe sticking out the bottom! It would have looked much better in line with the doorframe adjacent. Had to learn to live with that one. We had engineered wood floors put in upstairs - the fitter used the shortest wall in the smallest room to take a plumbline from. When it came into the hall it was obviously on a complete wonk. By this point I'd gotten a bit better at speaking up and ensuring we actually got what was needed (and paid for!). He had to take it up and re-lay using the hall as the plumbline. Looked so much better but he was extremely annoyed! After all this I learned to use masking tape to direct exactly where pipes/light switches/trim should be fitted so there was no room for 'interpretation'. I also forced myself to speak up more and advocate for what I really wanted. That said I'm a designer by trade so I generally know what I want and how to make it look good but was definitely a bit too shy to contradict trades in the beginning!

MATH the terracotta panels ( Ladrillos panelas) are very brittle so I doubt if topping a wall with them would be that good they are okay in suspended ceilings, shelves and similar but on a wall top you would definitely need to render them quite thickly. The dimensions you give work out to 60 cubic metres so I see why you want an alternative to blocks, casting concrete or using lava. I had a google for Spanish concrete panels along the lines of gravel boards, don't know if you speak any Spanish so it's more or less 'panelas de hormigon', I can't find anything useful on Spanish Google at the moment but next week I have to go to my local builders merchant so I'll ask him if he has any ideas.

Depends on the door style you like, ie do you like a more traditional or shaker style, a modern gloss kitchen, handleless kitchens, flat slab doors with handles, very modern true handleless, and also the accessories you want, are they available like wine racks or display cabinets. So for a shaker door, this would be a 5 piece wooden door, usually made from ash (popular with painted doors) or oak and a veneered centre panel and the frame is a tenon joint, cheaper doors have a v groove running through the joint instead of smooth, doors are about 20mm thick, usually standard sizes but some bespoke suppliers. Considered best. But there's also 5 piece mdf doors that have a vinyl wrap which usually has a woodgrain and can be coloured, also about 20mm, can be made to measure sizes, Then you also have a vinyl wrap mdf door thats a 1 piece door that's been machined on the front and then covered in a coloured vinyl, if the vinyl has a grain it runs only one way and these are only 18mm. Can be made to measure sizes. These can be flat slab, shaker style or other options and are your cheapest. For a gloss kitchen then a painted and lacquered door is best, a flat slab door is usually 18mm mdf but a few 22mm are available. For a handleless J profile door you need 22mm doors to allow for the handle, usually mdf and painted and lacquered for gloss or matt, the vinyl doors (apart from a few cheap cut and edged 19mm thick) just don't have a deep enough handle. Theres also acrylic faced flat slab mdf doors with a choice of edging, 18mm thick and can have a matt or gloss finish, good quality and finish. Cheaper mfc 18mm doors, these are melamine faced chipboard in a multitude of colours and woodgrains and can have a 1-2mm edging, can be made to measure and depending where its made you can get them made with a woodgrain and book leaved so the grain follows from door to door. which can look stunning. The true handless look is just having a handle rail beind the doors fitted to the cabinets and the doors are just a flat slab door as above Then you also have in-frame kitchens which are usually quite traditional with a frame around each door or drawer pack, usually a shaker style door and all made from wood and can work out pretty expensive. Can have visible butt hinges for that traditional look.
