bathroom dilemma

I am having to refit my tiny bathroom after a severe water leak. I am removing the bath, and installing an offset quadrant shower. I would like to have a free standing unit with washbasin, but can’t decide whether to go for one of the units with a sleek basin, or to go for a unit with a freestanding basin on top. I would like a dark wood unit ( or wood effect, as none seem to be real wood) and would like a wow factor! However it will probably be the last bathroom I install in this house so I don’t want it to date, either! The unit would be 600mm I think; I could fit 700mm in but it might look too crowded?
What do you all think?

It's easier to have an opinion if you could post some pics or even better a floor plan? How big is the room and how large is the shower that you're putting in?

We suggest you go with a wall hung unit as that will open up the small bathroom much more. And also to opt for an integrated basin, because a freestanding counter top one will be hard to clean around/under. The vanity units on the link below would be a good option. One is 600 mm wide and the other one is either 500 or 700 mm.

I think the best thing to do is use boards that looks like mosaic tiles, it's from ABBuilding supplies, you can stick it over tiles and then the furniture. It's very cost effective.

I agree that the vaulted ceiling would be out of proportion although you could do what the Victorians used to do- have a skylight and therefore a light filled space above the room and then a window in the ceiling of your bathroom. Sun tunnels seem like a cheaper alternative but the only one I saw didn't deliver (kinda like early energy saving light bulbs- promised to be bright but really you needed five to replace a conventional bulb)

From our experience, we have seen that using soft colours in the bathroom across the tiling keeps a consistent feel to it throughout the year. Practically, this makes it a lot more accessible, aesthetically consistent, and maintains the user experience (yes i know its a bathroom). Hi Nicola, Great idea to keep a bath in your property for your future and resell value. This type of layout would typically require more space but not impossible. You’d need to move the door to the right to achieve this with bath to the left as u walk in. Is there scope to increase the size of the room into the hallway? Thank you, Design Angels. I really like the Bauhaus units....they seem well made. We were thinking of wall hung, and you make a good point about cleaning with a free standing basin. I just felt that the free standing looked a bit more “wow”!

We think that wow factor is about the finish and the quality of the product, not about the wall hung/floorstanding types. Maybe worth checking out Tikamoon website as well. They have a really cool mix of floorstanding vanity units, all in wood, and quite unique. Good luck, hope you find the one!

A bowl i think would give you that wow factor, dark brown wood finishes we don't do alot of anymore (greys and taupe are very popular) colours that we don't do much of now we might do a year down the line, you just never know how quickly things will date so go with what you like.
