Extractor over hob or not?
Comments (6)Yes but it's UK it's a requirement when you have building work going on too ! Otherwise they can't sign it off ! It can be a wall one, like a bathroom style, if need be - as long as it's powerful enough. Multiply length, width and height of room in meters - then x10 for minimum extraction rate required in m3 per hour....See MoreKitchen Extractor, necessary?
Comments (12)I think there are better ways of getting more storage into your kitchen. Handy pull outs help you to use space at the back of cupboards and in corners. In my opinion lots of pan drawers makes it easier to use your storage. You could also have taller wall cabinets, behind plinth storage, replace a radiator with under floor heating to get more wall space. You could have deeper work surfaces so you have more room for appliances like kettles and toasters. You might also consider having a sideboard elsewhere for crockery that only gets used on high days and holidays....See MoreWill an integrated extractor stop grease build up on cupboard fronts?
Comments (6)TBH I would be reluctant to have a cupboard directly over the hob for this very reason. It's a real bugbear of mine, greasy cabinets and surfaces from cooking. I would also imagine that rising steam may also cause problems down the line. That said, we've just bought an Elica (being installed next week) for our new kitchen, because they have a good reputation (as far as I'm aware) and seem to perform well, but as for others I'm afraid I can't be of much help. I'm interested to hear of other people's experience with grease build up in your scenario, but I guess it also depends on what type of cooking do....See Moreexposed metal extractor ducting kit
Comments (32)Well our builder/joiner used to be a kitchen fitter so he was going to be fitting it but he’s just gone awol and run off somewhere (left all his tools and taken out money and not paid half of his contractors!!) So we have had to take over the project mid way :0( He hasn’t planned the extractor in otherwise he would have designed and made the roof section the pipes need to go into, differently. So as we don’t have anyone yet who can take over the whole thing - we are trying to work out the niggles as best we can and make life easy for ourselves. The plasterers are hopjng to board in 1-2 weeks so I’m thinking the easiest thing to do is to have exposed pipes which will work with our industrial theme I guess. That way it won’t effect the ceiling as it will just under it....See Moresue_brayson
