Design size advice please

I'm planing on building a fake chimney breast and inserting a gas stove, I'm unsure of the correct dimensions for the size of the room, how wide should it be how far should it come out from the wall in relation to the size of the wall it’s sitting on?

The first picture is what’s there at the moment the second picture is what I’m hoping to create

is there a rule of thumb for this design
