The “Smart” Shower Door: the Future of Creativity?
Comments (0)While digital technology and “smart” appliances have become commonplace throughout the rest of the home, they haven’t yet been used extensively in the bathroom. However, things are changing and there are now a variety of ways in which such technology is being integrated into the bathroom. Our bathrooms are typically places of comfort, where we perform many of our most intimate daily routines. Consequently, they’ve long been associated with relaxation, down-time and, as an interesting by-product, creative thinking. Many people – including Archimedes and Einstein, perhaps - believe they do their best thinking and have their biggest ideas whilst in the bathroom. So, it makes a great deal of sense to begin employing technology in the bathroom that helps us relax, enhances our enjoyment and makes the most of our intellectual capacities. Smart canvas shower door In a big leap forward, the Marriott hotel chain has begun testing a "smart shower door" that allows its guests to note down thoughts and ideas whilst in the shower. The door works as a giant canvas. Users can write, draw and doodle in the condensation that accrues on the door, then save the idea and send it to their email for later use. This development is part of a concerted effort to implement greater amounts of technology in the bathroom to improve their guests’ experience. Future of “smart” bathrooms Other instances of “smart” technology being applied in the bathroom includes virtual assistants that are able to start showers at a requested temperature, motion sensors that lift and close toilet lids, touchless tap technology, LCD shower screens that control water temperature and other environmental factors, and waterproof televisions. In all cases, this technology is being used to make bathrooms more enjoyable, hygienic or easier to use. The future of the “smart” bathroom seems to be an environment in which everything is controllable and user experience is streamlined, simple and enjoyable. Our “smart” bathroom fixtures At BathroomsByDesign, we’ve also embraced the digital revolution and now stock a variety of fixtures that make the most of digital technology. Both the Vado and Crosswater branded digital thermostats are available for purchase online and in-store. These state-of-the-art thermostats utilise digital technology to monitor the temperature of the water, ensure there are no hot or cold surges, and let you know when the shower is at your desired temperature. We’ve also worked hard to develop our unique and useful Virtual Reality VR Viewer App. This wonderful piece of technology allows you to immerse yourself in your bathroom designs and understand exactly how it would work when applied to your home. Users can mark their favourite designs for later reference, share or they can be used to guide your own design process. Digital technology has an important role to play in creating the bathrooms of the future and, here at BathroomsByDesign, we’re committed to developing our own expertise, stocking the leading products in the industry, and creating the finest “smart” bathrooms the future has to offer....See MoreThatched Country Home Project

Comments (7)hi Kat by the time you waiting for a planning and finalised drawings and you saying you sent your documents for planning its a right time to get estimate by the planning drawings till they turn up with a tender spec. if you have clear idea about what would you like to have maybe its better to skip the tender spec and make your own decisions as a guide for a builder to price. compare to a size of your project you can assume flexibility from a builder for certain changes during a time of a built. if you have existing bathrooms for example which were stay as its is with no layout changes (studwall movements) its a right time to start to rip them off and start to 1st fix them up also as you would have underfloor heating (not to sure if its piped system) builder can start to expose floors and insulate them through and make all pipework/electrics ready for a next phase which would be your loft and extension. if you issued your planning and you have structure engineer drawings on place too its a time think ahead if you need any party wall agreement on place you would need to start to work on it as it can slow the process of a build (or just propose it for your neighbours involced). other things as like find out main water pressure and main water upgrade is a right way too to start with as with that amount of upgrades old pipework might don't have enough pressure so good to submit applications for water authorities as nowadays it can takes up to 8-10 weeks too to have a main connection to be done....See MoreMain Bathroom Vanity/Laundry Unit Dilemma. Please HELP!
Comments (0)Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of picking out a vanity and laundry unit for our main bathroom. Our apartment is quite small, so the only space available for a washer/dryer is in the main bathroom. However, I do not want to leave them 'exposed', rather I would like to place them in a unit (separate from the vanity). The dilemma is this, I really have no clue what laminate color/wood to choose! At first I was imagining a dark oak wood to warm up the room, however, our kitchen is already a dark wood shade (image attached) and I'm scared the bathroom will end up looking like a continuation of the kitchen (which I do not want). The tiles in the bathroom are StoneOne by Marca Corona in Ivory https://www.marcacorona.it/en/collections/marca-corona/stoneone/ (it's sort of a cement beige with greyish undertones). For bathroom fixtures we have the Crosswater MPRO in chrome, a 1.4 by .8 meter walk in shower (white shower tray), the Glide II Crosswater toilet in gloss white and the Cielo Shui rectangular washbasin also in gloss white. I'm aware that the vanity and the unit do not need to match perfectly, however, I would love some ideas :)...See MoreDr Retro House Calls
