Restore all ceilings, floors and doors, but keep the walls somewhat 'neutral'. People love original features, but most of them are overwhelmed with the amount of patterns. Use solid colors (not necessarily white/beige) to make the features and furniture stand out more. Attention grabbing. Find an expert electrician (with experience in old buildings!!) as there's plenty of wiring to be worked into those walls. And an engineer that can help you with the best location for bathrooms. Look into bathroom modules/pods, as you don't want to ruin those lovely ceilings with too many partitions (they can be 210cm tall for example). Plus a really well thought through lighting plan. Comfy beds and (white/champagne) bedding. Consider keeping the architectural features art-nouveau (soft and swirley), while using more art-deco furniture (straight, glam, functional, geometric), because it'll create a more modern feel. Look up many images, as both styles are still quite popular and/or well documented. You must use something without any stretch- the one I used was an upholstery grade cotton. The remnant was on eBay for £30 and I used an online framing company for a bespoke size frame. This one I actually spray glued the fabric to the backing so it is more like a framed picture but others I've done I've simply stapled the fabric to a canvas bought from an art shop. Best of luck!

I think you could have got away with it although lovely to use it for your room! I think (!) you have just about enough room for curtains as there won't be much material to stack back although you may need to use end caps rather than finials on the eaves side. My only worry Is that it could make the wall seem shorter but try it with sheets first as I do like the look as per my first pic and would have the same layout with bed where it is and move your chests under the window. I like the other pelmet but it doesn't allow the blinds to show unless you block light so might remove it. I mistakenly thought you had the grape version of the fabric so might look at a grey velvet bed or even a green one or I do like the rattan ones. The one pictured is from the French bedroom company. I managed to get one for my spare room in it's raw state off eBay for £270 and then I painted it myself. If you could store the laundry elsewhere this was my idea for a leaner mirror opposite the window but with a low upholstered bench/settle in front. The dressing table looks as if it was made to measure and good for storage? I might paint it a lighter shade, change the mirror for something a little more delicate and add a stool

Depends on your budget, original art can be expensive. For prints I’ve used King & Mcgaw who sell framed prints in thousands of styles. They do the classics right up to pop and contemporary. Framed prints start at £130. At the cheaper end Etsy can be a good place to look.
