how big is this closet opening?

I have a 92 inch opening and would love to do barn doors but i do not know how big the doors have to be .

that makes for 2 46" doors

those are big doors

The bigger concern is--Do you have 46" on either side of the opening for the doors to slide out of the way?

(Un)fortunately the understairs space is not available for this, for two reasons: A) Electricity supply terminates in there; water too close to that isn‘t particularly liked by regs. B) It’s our wine cellar :-) and yes the lintel/door move is planned as well already - kudos for spotting ...

Hi temple274; Thank you so much, I did not think about that!! Was focusing too much on indoor houseplants to think about greenhouse-friendly ones! In terms of ventilation, I can keep windows on night-vent a lot but being ground floor will only have windows open during the day when I'm home, will that be enough?. Night-time I'm probably going to boil...! (only moved in last November). Am not able to put blinds up unless I find any on tension rods (if they exist?) but I'm guessing that won't affect tomato plants?

Have you seen dazzle camouflage? The concept is don't try to hide it - emhpasise it - massive rich colours - emphasise its purpose, holding the ceiling up. If its obvious what it's doing it may stick out less than a 'samey' paint job?
