Ok I think I have found some colors to choose from. I was thinking this color (http://www.farrow-ball.com/brinjal/colours/fcp-product/100222#) for wall 2 & 4 And this color (http://www.farrow-ball.com/charleston-gray///fcp-product/100243) for wall 1 & 3 I then thought that might be too dark so I then moved to these colors: For wall 2 & 4 (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:rfuhcJloRGIJ:www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/alexandriabeige+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk) And for wall 1 & 3 (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:kA8fz-8Evt4J:www.benjaminmoore.ca/en-ca/paint-color/snowonthemountain+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk) Firstly do you agree on which walls hold the colors or do you think I should have contacting walls hold the colors i.e. Walls 1 & 2 the darker color and walls 3 & 4 the lighter. The sun comes through the window most of the day with it being a south facing window and in the morning sunrises on wall 4 and sets on wall 2. I would start with her bedroom, that's the area she wil rest. Keep it neutral and and peaceful. Make the curtains cheerful that will be the first thing she'll see when she wakes up. A four feet bed will be comfortable for her and find out how much it will cost to raise the bed ...at a certain age it is more comfortable to get in and out of. Table lamps which by a touch will light up a big alarm clock... Older people always want to know the time! Two bedside tables. Soft carpet for her feet and a big collage on the wall with photos of her family. I would get rid of the wardrobe is is so huge and if you look on your local ebay and put you postcode in you will be able to get a good bargain. Look for a comfy chair too with a floorlight for reading. If space a nice little table (local ebay) will make it complete. Your mum prefers her wall painted but again a roll of cheerful wallpaper for one wall in her bedroom will make it special for her. Try to get rid of all the clutter like those two shopping trolleys perhaps in a cupboard in the hall? I have done a lot of houses up on a shoestring and it is a challenge but can be so satisfying. One thing I have learnt ....ALWAYS finish one room completely before going on to the next room. It helps when you feel a bit down about the project and one look in the finished room gives one a big boost to continue!!! Good Luck.

Hello melsals, Well firstly you can work around these things... I don't feel that having a dining table on a carpet is too much of a problem.. If you wanted to get a rug to go underneath that area, that too could be nice.. I would suggest picking something that is not too dissimilar in colour to what you have flooring wise, thus you aren't breaking up the floor too much.. I also like the benches idea... Or stools that you could stack.. I have another suggestion... Depending on the size of the breakfast bar you mention... Can you have a fold away extension? which you can then use as a dining area with stools/benches.. When not in use it could be folded back under the existing part of the table and benches stored as casual seating somewhere in the kitchen.. Of course I am only making suggestions and don't know the dimensions of said space or if that could work... but perhaps that could solve the seamless requirement and leave the living room as living room.. : ))

The orange is a great choice for the blue but you have the pink of the curtains ( although you can mix pink and orange). I would probably go pale blue, the dusky pink, ŵall colour and silver. I'd move the small sofa a foot or so closer to the other sofa. Move the chairs so they're nearly in line with the arch doorway. You could have them square on or angled towards each other. I'd move your side table so it's at the side of the sofa, it could look great with a matching one the other side with table lamps on (move the floor lamp to a corner). As Brandi said you need a much larger rug so the front feet of all the seats sit on the rug. Perhaps a couple more accessories for the coffee table, maybe a large vase of flowers? And some art on the wall? I love your lights but wonder if chandeliers with a greater drop would work better or would they not work with the fan?! Fantastic room though, love the floor and sofas!
