Type of wood, etc?

Hi, I would love to do a wood wall like this in our living room. Curious if you can tell me what type of wood this is, whether it was stained, or any other details you're willing to share ? It's lovely. Thank you.

Hello. This wall and cabinet were created with teak veneered plywood panels and a series of 1/4" reveals between each panel. A durable clear coat was applied to protect and enhance the teak. A custom cabinet builder would be able to work through something like this with you. Thank you for your comments.

Hi. I'm not of the dimensions needed but a couple of ideas. The "logs" one is from garden trading and has a separate section for kindling and costs 115. The set of 2 are from woven hill for 98. Choice baskets also have a few for around 30 each

What colour to paint wood work, down pipes etc

Good morning All very good suggestions above. You will need to consider all. My suggestion is to paint the downpipes that is on the light grey stone in Purbeck Stone of Farrow and Ball and the downpipes on the brick coloured stone in Book room red of Farrow and ball. The reason for this is: Downpipes want to be camouflaged as it is not a feature of the house at all. You want to paint them a colour that will 'hide' them and not make them stand out. The front door I would paint in hague blue of Farrow and Ball. You will however need to get a Farrow and Ball Card and match it with your stone in order to get the right tones for the stone, red and navy colour. I would probably paint the window frames in Worsted of Farrow and Ball. I hope this helps. Please ask if you need more help. Have a lovely day to you all. Ilze

So you know I bought a single 'click deco' brand dolly light switch a while back and found it to be pretty poor quality so it was returned. Ended up with these: http://www.forbesandlomax.com/the-unlacquered-brass-range.html Really good quality and they have lovely finishes too. I quite like their antique bronze range too as it contrasts nicely with chrome/nickel finishes without clashing. If you'd really like everything to match then take a look at the Jim Lawrence range. They're not the cheapest but offer both light switches and door furniture in a large selection of finishes. Hi John Sapele is from the mahogany family and is more readily available as a solid timber, the engineered format is usually more expensive than Grandis. Grandis is from the eucalyptus family and is readily available in engineered format making it slightly cheaper. but they are both good hardwoods and both ideal for doors and windows however we would personally always opt for engineered timber for stability unless using Accoya timber. We use engineered wood in virtually all of our exterior joinery projects as it is much more stable to work with compared to solid timber sections and is much less likely to warp or twist in wet/humid conditions. Depending on the finish you want on your door and whether or not you live in an exposed area e.g. by the sea would help us deciding on a certain timber for your needs. If you want a stained wooden door then you can not beat Engineered Oak. If you are opting for a painted finish then we would advise on Engineered Grandis. It is a more affordable hardwood that looks great when painted. If you live in an exposed area then Accoya is fantastic, it is a softwood that has had the cell structure altered using a natural process to stop it from absorbing moisture. The benefits of this is that Accoya timber will last 50 years above sea level and the shrinkage and swelling is reduced by 75% which reduces your maintenance costs long term. It can be painted or if you prefer it can be stained to look like Oak. Accoya is a more expensive timber due to its properties. For painted windows we still think Engineered Redwood is a great affordable option, it is a very hard "softwood" and works well for windows but we would never advise that it is used on doors as it doesn't last. Again if you want your windows to be stained then we would suggest Engineered Oak or Accoya. Hope this helps, good luck with your search and let us know if you have any further questions.
