What would you do?
Comments (17)do as Dundrum says. although your pic doesn't show the rest of the street I suspect there is a strong symmetry with the other houses. this needs to be kept. a statement is what this house eally doesn't need. As has been said, refresh the exterior paintwork keeping it the same as the neighbours and/or in line with that of the other houses on the street, and generally smarten up what is there. the hedge on the left should be clipped. the tree on the right is a yew and should not be touched. it is a slow grower and will cause no problems. if it is bothering you the whole tree and not just your side can be trimmed by a third. one thing that would be good is to remove all the weeds from the gravel, possibly relay the gravel if needed, and introduce some sort of threshold between you and the road - it may already exist underneath the weeds....See MoreHow would you finish this kitchen?

Comments (34)I have no idea yet on the floor - it will either be a grey tone or a warming brown wood in LVT (wood effect though, not tiles) Thought I would wait until the kitchen is in so I can get samples to put it next to it as we have custom F&B Off Black units and I haven't seen them yet, LOL. (they are being delivered Saturday!) eek. Don't want it to all feel too cold. We are still trying to finish replacing the floor joists and flooring in the lounge area in the evenings so hence struggling for time to decorate. Just can't think at the moment - might have to put one of our huge dust sheets over the units next week if I haven't decided soon. Will take a week or so before the quartz worktop comes anyway so there will be time I guess. Just a few units in the way/......See MoreCondensation in concrete house!
Comments (6)Hi Laura, A few questions that can help you trace the problem. - Has the condensation always been there? - If not, did it coincide with any kind of renovation work, like removing a chimney, wall vent, double glazing, kitchen re fit? etc - Did it coincide with a new appliance, like a washing machine, dryer etc? - Did it coincide with a lifestyle change e.g. more cooking, kids moving home etc. - Does your boiler loose pressure often? A few years ago my parents house suddenly developed a condensation problem. Everyone noticed it but we couldn't figure out why. We tried all the normal things like opening windows, turning the heating up and we even bought an electric dehumidifier. The dehumidifier worked great but a few hours after switching it off the condensation came back. One day I was in the kitchen and noticed a hissing sound so managed to trace it to behind the fridge. It was the mains pipe. Water was spraying in through the tiniest of cracks, so small I almost missed it. My guess is that it had been leaking for as long as the condensation problem had been there i.e. nearly a year, but the crack was bigger now and that's why I heard the hissing. Back then my parents had lino on the kitchen floor and the water had just been collecting under it. I fixed the pipe and within a few days the condensation cleared up and hasn't been back since. So might be an idea to go around the house and check all the plumbing....See MoreKate
