Radiators for people who hate radiators...

Kitchen / dining / living room extension. Underfloor heating was going to be very expensive, and either involve digging down into a very unfriendly concrete floor, or else accept a step up into the room. We had to remove 2 big horizontal radiators and the layout meant that vertical rads were preferable.
Trouble is, I hate the look of most radiators.
Until I saw these....
Are they beautiful or vulgar?
(Hint, tell me they are lovely as this is my nearly finished room...)

Comments (23)Stephen Edwards makes a really good point about the thermostat, and it works both ways (ie causing the heating to come on when you don't need it, as well as going off when you do!). Thermostats are often placed in the hallway, which can be colder than the rest of the house by cold air coming in through a draughty front door. It sounds like you have systemic problems to solve, but once those are sorted out you could look at draughtproofing, paying particular attention to anywhere that affects the thermostat. If you identify your letterbox as draughty you could look at fitting one of our letterbox solutions (we do a lovely stainless steel front letterplate as well as an inner letter box draught excluder), and if you have a pet that's going in and out through a draughty, rattly old catflap we do a pet door too. Comments (13)We installed radiator covers in a Georgian house decorated in a traditional style. They covered modern, flat radiators and without doubt were a vast visual improvement. The space within the cover will get considerably hotter than the room so conventional thermostatic valves are no good. We used valves that had a heat sensor in the room not within the cover. I recall the covers were made from a fairly heavy duty MDF and whilst they did get quite hot they never warped. Using radiator covers probably means it takes longer to heat a room to a comfortable temperature but we didn’t notice an increase in fuel bills possibly because we often used open fires in the winter. So far I've decided to definately have a deep single bowl under mount sink, I will take the advice to hide the machines behind doors. Also I am going to have the stacking kit as the folding board will give me additional useable space. I don't know if the cupboards in the middle will make the space look heavy? at 5"11" I fear I might be constantly bumping my head against it. My kitchen cabinets are pale cream from Howdens, do you think it would look odd if I have the utility cupboards a light grey with a bold tiled backsplash? Thank you all for showing my your utility rooms really appreciate your advice all your advice and would really like to see some more pics of your space saving ideas and how you made your utility rooms more functional.
