living room dilemma! ! help!
Comments (16)be careful about painting the walls too light when you have such dark furniture- most people think it will make the room lighter but in fact will just make the sofa look darker and I suspect you won't like the contrast. I would choose Charleston grey for the walls, Strong white for the paintwork and coving then Clunch for the ceiling and above the picture rail. Don't forget you will need an accent colour- teal, plum, yellow, Navy, in fact loads of colours work. You will also need some pattern. Bring the pattern and colour in through pictures, lamp shades, Rugs, cushions, throws etc....See MoreSofa and living room dilemma
Comments (0)Need desperate help with our awkward living room layout! Our room is a bit awkward with bay window, small alcove, doors into middle room (photos attached). We're trying to decide where to put sofa & tv, and attach a couple of photos. The obvious place to put the tv is in the largest alcove, but this is right beside the south east facing window - I would hate to have the blinds down all the time as we need to bring light into the house. I also don't really like the idea of the tv above the stove, unless really necessary. I attach a few possible layouts....See MoreLiving room dilemmas
Comments (13)Hi everyone , thanks for all your comments, everything you have said is exactly what we have been thinking.... flush simple ceiling lights and a floor lamp in the corner, although we are now toying with the idea of two matching lamps on tables at either side of the bay window and maybe adding some wall ornaments or something to add detail above the lamp to balance the curtain height . Yes we were going to add some wall art between the sofa and cabinet. Yes the sofa can be moved closer to the other sofa but that works better if the tv is positioned more in the corner and because of the huge tv it had to be flat on the wall ( I would love the TV to be wall mounted but my husband is old fashioned and the tv HAD to be on a cabinet) there is more space than it looks between back of sofa and cabinet so it's not too univiting and the ottoman seems to line up where it is....See MoreLiving room dilemma
Comments (4)Hi Adele - a blank canvas what a joy! What other items are definitely going in there? Do you have any artwork or accessories that you love that you can use as a starting point for colour/texture? You might find this really useful that I posted last week? https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/5905629/new-project-but-what-s-my-style...See Morerinked
