Can this tile be used on the shower floor?

The shipping doubled the price. I’ll see if I can find the tile locally, if you spend 200.00 on tile it will cost you just as much for shipping.

Dear Mary,

Yes this mosaic can be used for the shower floor. Marble tiles and mosaics are very heavy and therefore the shipping costs are considerable.

Yes, the floor has been made level with the shower base (a Wedi tray). The shower tray is set as low as it can be. 20mm thick board has been placed on the floor to level it with the shower tray. I'm thinking of removing that board so the floor height will be lower than the shower base - hence the need to create a curb around the shower. Hope this makes sense! Here's a photo looking through the door, once tiled the doorway threshold will be 32 - 35 mm higher than the hallway if I leave the floor as it is.

Oh dear, I hope your company didn't lay them... The problems are legion, but the most striking mistake is in the layout. The tiles do not follow the line of the stairs, nor are they symmetrical. This will ALWAYS make the hall look lopsided. When you add in the colour scheme and lack of other period features, the owners have a problem. Are these encaustic tiles? The colour is far from traditional for a hallway and as others have said- more suited for a bathroom/utility room. If they are encaustic, why not move them to the garden and make a Mediterranean courtyard? The hall can then be inviting rather than blinding.

Hi Jen Tiled wet rooms look great and make a bathroom feel more spacious. You would need a wet room system installing by a professional to ensure there are no issues with leaks (particularly if it's a first floor bathroom!). There will be more maintenance with a tiled floor - particularly if you have hard water/ limescale. The grout will show wear and tear first so larger tiles with fewer grout lines are a good idea. Wet rooms look fantastic but will need more TLC than a shower tray. This is probably a price worth paying to achieve the look you want!
