plants to cover holes in wall

Hello, I have a few of these decorative inserts around my garden and was hoping to plant something the other side of them that could grow and conceal and even then potentially across the trellis either side.

Any ideas what would work here, and if whatever grew would it be able to attach to these concrete inserts? Preferably id like something fast growing and needs something suitable for east facing. Any ideas much appreciated

Thanks Jonathan good idea. Question is, would I be able to train it through that concrete infill (couple inches depth) or will it be winding too much

There's lots of great ideas for plants here, but I would strongly suggest you get answers to the following questions before you choose a plant/plants. - What direction does the wall face? - What sort of soil is there at the base of the wall? (Ask neighbours or post a photo of a spadeful of soil here which will probably let people identify the soil type) - Does water which falls on the tarmac run towards the wall or away from it? Walls cast a 'rain shadow' so if the water runs away from the wall that patch of ground is likely to be extremely dry. You would have to choose a particularly drought-resistant climber or be prepared to add extra water in some way. If you choose a plant which likes the conditions you have, it'll thrive. If you don't it will probably die and then you'll end up feeling like you're a rubbish gardener. Those Spanish Bluebells you liked are extremely tough though, and should do well wherever. ...also, if the conditions are right, I'd like to put in a word for my favourite climber, the evergreen and fast-growing Clematis armandii.

I've been there. The shower had square white tiles. I made a panel of rectangular tiles in matt cream, of matching width and new shower plumbed in. It looks like a design decision as removed only the tiles needed to fit the shape required. A bold colour would work as well but first check the look of your 'panel' by using a paper template on the wall.

Hopefully I can find one like yours Sonia, but don't know how as I can't even trust the reviews anymore. He did forget to pass the second coat in 2 walls in the upstairs bathroom and left a big mess in a wall in my room which he repaired part of it because I told him. I get he is a handyman not a plasterer and decorator but he advertises on his page he has over 35 years experience in plastering and painting, so the job should be at an acceptable standard. Colourhappy, thank you for responding, it gave me confidence to ask him to re do the plastering. At the end he accepted a reduced price, myself and my partner will finish the job!

covering flagstones with an evergreen plant or another material?

Agree with Angie. Remove them and maybe gravel around the planting you have and extend the gravel to cover where the flagstones were, with sun loving tough plants such as thyme and creeping rosemary which will spill over and cover your wooden retaining panels. Appreciate you have already bought and planted the cordyline but if they die in winter what about lavendar? Just make sure the gravel is in a complementary colour to your patio.

Climbing roses (will need tying in), Honeysuckle, Clematis Montana, Star Jasmine. All these plants will need to have stems tied to the concrete blocks and trellis. Climbing Hydrangea will self cling, slow to start then romps away.

Hello Jamie, I'd recommend ivy, not a very fashionable, but will grow in full sun or full shade, is self clinging so need to tie in, fast growing and doesn't need pruning. If it gets out of control just cut it back. Try Hedera hibernica or Hedera helix 'White Wonder' for a variegated variety.

I have Hedera Hibernica (Irish Ivy) in my garden. It is very vigorous but I love it’s large leaves. I never recommend it as people are a bit scared of ivy! Here it is in my garden behind the foxglove.
