What colors to use in my bedroom

I am tired of the bedroom the way it tis now. The problem is, it is quite small so can not move furniture around. Plus there is no budget for new furniture. Have considered painting the furniture to a different color but the bed is not solid wood so not sure how the end result will look like. I feel like I am left with changing walls artwork and soft furnishings but can't decide on colors. I like blue but I have never used colors in my walls and I am afraid it will make the room look too small... I feel a bit stuck. Any ideas will be highly appreciated. 🙏

Tried to visualise it but my room is much darker and not sure that will have a huge impact in the end result

I think painting the wall behind the bed will freshen up the room and not too much work. Navy blue will look lovely with the grey and create a cosiness.
F&B Inchyra Blue is a lovely dark teal which looks great with grey (last pic).

HiTino Felly, Marie Here. Your off to a great start - but you've made a common mistake in that you've found your inspiration for your colour palette, but your not committing to it. You need to bring the greens and blues up onto the walls and onto the floor - commit to it. You could: - add a great throw rug underneath the bed, - add big table lamp beside the bed - or better yet, a wall sconce, - drapery isn't really the best choice for this bedding - I would have brought in a bold graphic print here, in either the blue or the green - artwork can stay neutral - even do a collection of mixed metals in chrome, gold, and have fun with that - if you add too much in the blue and green it becomes boring and un-special. Choose your accessories carefully, I'd change out your drapery - go with something bolder, I'd also get a larger night stand so you could put a proper table lamp there. Good Luck!

I like what you've done so far! My suggestion is to go hunting for vintage saris on ebay, and make a blind from that. I think they're beautiful and while they wouldn't suit every project, they certainly would suit here. You'd struggle to match the green, but cream, pale grey, or heavily embroidered with gold or silver thread would all look great, or perhaps maroon or dusty pink if you want a contrast. If your window is wider than one sari width it might take some juggling to take advantage of the most embroidered end, but I think it would be well worth it.

I found the Dulux Visualator, or whatever it’s called, to be pretty useless. I used it once to visualise my old sitting room colour just to see how accurate it was. My walls were Dulux Elderflower so compared it on the Dulux online thingy and it was completely different!

So... managed to find time to discuss it late last night, and we definitely like the idea of being able to make bed 3 larger. I've taken it slightly further in some ways but less in others to try and minimise the cost hopefully as bf thinks that regardless of what we do, it'll end up being prohibitively expensive to re-organise upstairs. This plan would : Keep doorways off the landing to bed 2/3 the same as they are currently (I appreciate the benefits of moving them in terms of not having it right at the top of the stairs, however there's still room for a stair gate at the top of the stairs (should we ever need one), and has never been a problem for us since we've been here regardless of who's stayed (almost 6 years). Removing your study area - we have a separate office/mancave downstairs, and I always work at the dining table even when I had an office space if doing work at home, allowing us to have a bigger family bathroom (maybe a pocket door) with hopefully room for a bath and walk in shower? (as actually the 2 bathrooms we'd be joining are quite compact!) Still quite a small landing area, which I appreciate is useful for general circulation space, but we'd be reluctant to cut into bed 3 more than we have to, and there'd be just enough room I think to have a small window which would hopefully make it feel more airy at least. FYI the pink line I've added is where we get full height ceilings back, as the front half of bed 2/3 mostly have sloped ceilings, except for where the dormers are, but they drop to about waist height at the front. The back wall of the ensuite would be the current back wall of the ensuite again to help reduce costs... Ideally I'd have preferred to creep it forward an extra 10-20cm to give that room to bed 3, however I think for such a small distance it's probably not worth having to knock down, and build another wall. What do people think? ? Obviously would still need to ask builders re cost etc and bf thinks I'm getting hopes up and it'll cost too much... (Anyone got any rough thoughts how much it might be?) but I did point out we could fit most of the bathroom stuff at a later date.

Thank you. The first one looks lovely....blue looks gorgeous with white furniture just not sure will look the same with black. I am flirting with the idea of painting my furniture just to have the blue wall 🙄

I would use a dark grey/charcoal on the wall behind the bed, and then white on all the other walls. This will brighten the space up, while still having a statement!

It will also tie the bed and furniture in being black, itll become a monochrome scheme!

I would add a white floating shelf above your bed, with some plant pots, and black/white pictures in white frames to lighten the wall! And some white bedding with a mixture of grey/black cushions and a bed throw or blanket!

I can see you have a white (or light coloured) blind which would still work with this scheme, so i would consider removing the curtains, to let the full amount of light in, and will allow more white wall on show so the room will appear less dark! Change the lampshades out for white ones, the lamp bases are still usable! :)
