Can you share the type of walnut used. Black walnut? No vaneer?

As the designer, we just specified walnut and our custom cabinet maker took it from there. Sorry i could not be more helpful with detailed specifics. It is a veneer which makes the kitchen more sustainable.

Not going to start another thread - just to ask another question (still in relation to the kitchen). Say we decide on some sort of wood flooring - laminate, karndean, engineered etc (that's not specifically important for this question) what are peoples opinion of not having the boards running paralell to the longest wall (ie the 'standard' way). I'm thinking of 45 degrees - there's not all that many pictures/examples of this (obviosuly if you look hard enough you can of course find them) - so is this considered to be a no-go? Starting at the front door, going down the hallway and into the kitchen/diner all at 45 degrees to the front of the house. * Sitting room carpeted * Study - that's my music room/man cave - that's remaining carpet as it's not worth changing. * Utility room and WC is currently tiled - will prob (no, definately) keep as it doesn't bother me. * Conservatory / playroom - carpeted. Will stay as is so the kids can happily make a decent mess. Also, if anyone would like me to do some artist impressions/sketches of their property and how things would like, let me know, you can see the quality of my work in the MS Paint edited picture above. I'm relatively cheap :)

Hello Dean, Yes budget is important and there may be ways you can shave and save... Knowing where to spend and where not.. So it might be an idea to source your products and appliances individually in some respects... Something from here.. something from there.. Part of what I do is offer procurement and so being a fantastic negotiator is part of it.. Also you can pimp a plainer cabinet front for example with a fabulous handle... There are so many that I could go on and on and on.. but here's a few you might find of interest... You might find that getting a design independently or working with what you have, and using a fantastic kitchen fitter to install, your chosen shopping list! You could get something more bespoke and chosen specifically to your tastes.. rather than buy from a range chosen by any one kitchen company.. Mine I designed was 5k without discounts.. It won't possibly be to your liking but I mention it as it shows what can be done on a really small budget.. Also it's 5 years old and I have changed its appearance 3 times... This is the current look which was for publication... So it's dark but not boring.. : )) Worktop Handles Appliances This is how it started out 5 years ago (below) It's magnolia to say the least translation boring- and it was a bit of a messy day!... It though was right for the (then look) I get bored and my ideas evolve and so I change things, small things sometimes. So you can create very different looks with small changes in colour for example! I think the wickes is preferable but my suggestion is to perhaps use the design and then consider what else you can do! :))

thank you so much!!!! I've had 12 months of hell with bad workmen, delays and challenges as doing a complete house renovation on my own plus holding down a demanding full time job so now I find it hard to even think straight or make decisions, but you've all really helped me which I so appreciate! I'm yet to figure out what style of pendant lights would balance the modern kitchen over the island plus fireplaces and front garden but nearly there.. any help on these bits would be amazing!! it's an Edwardian house which I'm doing modern traditional.. Oh yes the Red wine is certainly helping :) Thanks a million!!!
