curtain pole width question

Hi there, I have some 240cm wide patio doors that I need to fix a pole and curtains over. I really love the thin black poles you see a lot at the moment. I am looking at the matt black Jim lawrence ones and wondering if i could get away with 20mm. They're made from steel and would come in two pieces, joined by a joiner rod with a central bracket. They would be going into brick/breezeblock. I would be looking to get lined linen curtains. What do you think, would the pole be strong enough or would I have to go with 25mm. If anyone has used thin poles successfully with curtains (not voiles or unlined linen ones - slightly heavier than that) would love to hear. Thanks!
