plumbing under bath advice

Hi, our bath recently flooded our house due to a failure of a stain steel flexi hose installed under the hot tap. The bath and pipework are sealed in, so it’s not so easy to get under.

I’m just wondering what it is the best pipework to replace with? Are cooper hard pipes the way to go? I read that flexi hoses generally last 5 years, so isn’t it kind of pointless to replace with them when it’s always difficult to get under and check their condition intermittently. What pipework is most resistant to leaks etc..? Thanks

Hi It looks as if the extension may of been added at a later date. This may be why the soil pipe runs through the roof. You may be able to redirect this. And yes building regulations state that if roof has more than 50% taken off you must reinstate insulation. If you set a 1700 length P shape shower bath horizontally infront of the window - but brought down the 200mm to clear the soil pipe - have a very slightly angled boxing at the rear of the bath ( so water hitting the tiled boxing flows into the bath ) you would have more standing room in the bath to use it as a shower too - not quite the two separate zones you are after - but more arm room than a standard bath shower ... Might be simpler to install too . If you stagger the basin and loo so there's more room in front of either, that would work better too in my opinion.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ... we have 12mm marine ply base in a 3mtr sq bathroom that needs tiling on a tight budget. from what i can see so far , the waterproof matting ( at £50.00 5sq mtrs roll ) plus joining tape ( £20.00) plus the additional flexi adhesive both under and on top of the matting almost doubles the cost of the project. Logically , unless the matting is seamless with a lip around all the edges and under the wall tiles , to stop any excess water escaping and rotting the walls etc, then am i right in thinking that the principal of waterproof matting underlay is null and void ???? PLEASE ADVISE, as i can't afford or want to sold into unnecessary costs

how about continue boxing all the way to the window and use it to house concealed shower pipes and taps also. adding a niche for shampoo and soaps / candles. to have a mirror cabinets above the sink and toilet and under sink cabinet. also fill the gap on the other side of the bath adding a cabinet for laundry / cleaning stuff.
