so is this siding? If so what is it?

Looking to remodel my garage. Have arts & crafts bungalow in OH. House has wood shingle siding. Wanting to make the cinder block garage match the house. What was the cost of the project if you do not mind me asking? And is this vinyl or cement siding on the garage?

The siding is hardi plank as well as hardi shingle. The cost of just the garage was approx. $225k. This is in a historic district and required a number of purist architectural details which increased the cost significantly. It also has a finished loft above and the vehicle area is fully insulated and heated. You can get the same look with vinyl products now. There are many "real look" offerings. We tend to use certainteed vinyl on more price conscious projects. It will turn out beautiful in either finish.

Agree with grey or greenish-grey (french grey) - a colour similar to the mortar would compliment it nicely. The cream in forzaitalia's second pic also looks very well.

I'm no expert but have done a fair bit of decorating / painting over the years and can't say my experience with Crown emulsion has been very positive. Yes, sometimes quite watery (although I'm not a fan of really thick paints like 'one coat' ones), yes multiple coats needed and not very washable once on the walls. Farrow and Ball is certainly way better in all these respects but exorbitantly expensive. I've had good results with Dulux (although some of the white gloss paints have turned quite yellow) but also with Wickes paints. There are many DIY outlets that offer colour matching. I'm sure you'll get some good pointers here on Houzz

I don't think it is a bad idea. Could be full length, but maybe not the full width, and with frosted glass for privacy but still allow the light. You could do one half the width, or two narrow frames in the space.
